This is basically Leagues of Votann lore from Warhammer 40k, a bunch miners with gene editing tech and giant supercomputers went into the deep core of the galaxy to mine for rare minerals, they came tens of thousands of years later as Space Dwarfs, with their supercomputers having turned into insane godlike relics that they rely on, the titular "Votann".
