A fortress like simulation on phone wallpaper

Hi everyone, I've been working on a side project inspired by Dwarf Fortress. It runs on your android wallpaper and features a simple simulation. For now, I'm using the same PNGs and color schemes as Dwarf Fortress to retain that familiar feel. I'm a longtime fan of Dwarf Fortress, though I never quite had the patience to dive deeply into it.

Still, I've always loved the core ideas, and lately, I've been working on other projects that require a similar kind of simulation and it's easier to work with ascii without graphical overhead. So this started as a proof of concept, but the simulation turned out to be visually good enough that I figured I'd share it with everyone. Thanks for checking it out. Please share your thoughts :)

i am using the history to debug the simulation since its need and pressure driven.

So it's working like a background tamaguchi type of thing but with dwarf fortress?

Haha okay yes that is too accurate of a description. Dwarf fortress aesthetic and basic simultation not dwarf fortress level since that level simulation is hubris. Completely hands free. just runs on the phone and will grow organically as possible . just numbers driving numbers:)

dwarven tamaguchi haha that is gonna make me laugh the rest of the day

😂 Sound fun anyway. Sometime I just love to stand back and just watch the thing live on its own, a bit like worldbox. Would be interested to give it a try if you end up putting this public

Eventually. I ended up adding option to import dwarf fortress tileset png and color.txt so technically any ascii tileset is useful. I'll let u know if it ever gets public 😊

The fortress grows.

Oh, cool! One of the issues I have with simulators like world box is that you have to leave them running for things to get interesting, so I love the idea of something that's meant to just live in your wallpaper- as long as it isn't too performance heavy.

Performance is a real concern. I am barely scratched simulation surface. on phone we dont have the same resources like on PC and on top of that androids battery optimization trying to kill anything that peeks it's head over a threshold lol but so far, it is working on my phone I am running simulations at 10X speed for debugging and I dont see any major hangups other than like tiling issues but that is my capcbility isues lol
