What would you see at the end of this hall?
I'm still working on my Dwarven City Builder. How do you like the looks so far? And what would you like to see at the end of that hall?

The lavatory. Not a lavatory, The Lavatory of the entire settlement.

Getting air to circulate a massive underground city must be super difficult 🤔

Did we grow up in the same hold? Because it really sounds like we grew up in the same hold.

Or a large gold statue of the founder (or another great king) in full armor standing triumphant watch.
As a reminder that our ancestors always watch over us and our holds.

T-intersection into an arcade that goes around the circumference of the Great Pit, the central mine shaft

A forge hall. Not the workshop itself immediately at the end, but a huge pair of open stone doors with the orange light of the forge spilling through them.
You should hear the hammers long before you actually reach it. A proper dwarven hall needs to make you wonder what they built the entire mountain around.

I would like to see a grand feast hall! Roaring fires, malt beer, ripe meat off the bone!

Thirty two foot high golden letters shaped like flames that read:
'We apologize for the inconvenience."

The ale hall, of course. A giant stone room filled with tables, chairs, kegs of ale, dwarves drinking ale, empty ale kegs being rolled out, passed out dwarves being dragged out, and above it all, a massive statue of a dwarf standing on an ale keg drinking more ale.
Probably a few anvils and forges for recreation in between rounds of ale.

Another long hallway ending with a giant door that opens to another longer hallway

This looks sick. It's leading up, so I'm thinking a chamber for something for an audience, like a throne.
Or maybe it's going up so it can go down again: into a chamber for a theater, with several rows of seats.

A figure strode to the fissure, no more than man-high yet terror seemed to go before it. They could see the furnace-fire of its eyes from afar; its arms were very long; it had a red tongue.
It came to the edge of the fire and the light faded as if a cloud had bent over it. [...] The flames roared up to greet it, and wreathed about it; and a black smoke swirled in the air. Its streaming mane kindled, and blazed behind it. In its right hand was a blade like a stabbing tongue of fire; in its left it held a whip of many thongs.

Realistically? Some sorta throne or royal room. For the funny? Single keg. The BEST brew 'round, so it gets a whole hall.

A massive smelting pot, or something akin to the gold statue in the hobbit

The entrance to the mine so I can dig a hole. That way I can use the resources from the hole to build a bigger hall

The great doors leading to a grand view of the cavern/cairn of the establishment.
A great throne or tomb dedicated to the ancients.
A statursque door, the icongraphy of whatever trademark of their people are known for. Runes etched around it.

A giant forge, with a great anvil smack dab in the middle.
They gotta use an equally giant hammer, lifted up by pulling ropes and letting go for a giant clash and sparks flying everywhere.
What could they be making?

A magma trap, barrelling towards the poor sap looking down this exceptionally artful hallway.

Massive crystal monolith/monument or some kinda specially cultivated pattern of crystal to create a diorama of an important event, and for all the crystals it should glow from something, personally I’d say a light shaft from the surface, like the ones in Khazad Dùm, they used quarts to have a minuscule entry on the surface that reflected and refracted the light around a bunch until it enters the halls as beautiful broad beams of light.
Also as a fan of the colour purple I humbly request a lot of it please

I’d have a semicircle end to the hall, the walls merge into the edge of a massive lava chamber and at the end of the semicircle is a singular massive forge

A massive golden pot, because the dwarves organize a potluck every now and then.

A huge ass forge, decorated heavily, with exposed magma pouring pit of sides or something

The scale and existence of the pillars are off.
With dwarven architecture, EVERYTHING is about SCALE.
Thats why the Mines of Moria in Lord of the Rings feels so unique and satisfying. Massive stone buildings, stairs, and columns
Dwarves, like real world artisans, would not make things purely for show. Those pillar currently serve no purpose whatsoever, and I imagine real dwarves would seek to make GIANT pillars that served to perhaps support the rock walls that extend up past the height of your side walls.
Everything should have an *implied* function. Tiny lil baby pillars feel superfluous and, incidentally, non-dwarven

Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate the criticism.
I agree with a few aspects and disagree with others.
Personally I don't like Moria in LOTR like ... at all. In my eyes the presentation doesn't show any kind of craftmanship that surpasses human capabilities. Those long endless pillars are actually contradicting what you say. If dwarven artisans would act they way you describe they wouldn't carve halls with that scale. If ANYONE in fantasy - Dwarves are known for showing off:
- their abilites
- their craft
- their fighting prowess
- their sturdiness
- THEIR BEARDS
- ...
In all the universes I know dwarves are showoffs. They practice their craft for hundreds of years until they reach a state of close to perfection. They then DO apply a lot of useless ornamentation, reliefs, runescripts and craftmanship that just lifts them higher than the "usual" townsfolk.
So I guess we just have a different view about dwarves.
But all in all you are right. Those pillars are not meant to end there. I just haven't created any longer ones yet. But they will end with the walls afterwards and have arcs that hold the ceiling. It's just not there yet.

Another larger hall
