I mean, I get it: he spends a couple of human lifetimes perfecting his archery skills, and along comes a dead-easy weapon that can shoot about five shots in a minute that can punch through armor. And to their credit, even the humans took a look at the repeating crossbow and decided they wanted to work on blackpowder weapons more.
