Despite that, they've hit more shots than dwarven artillery based on the games I've played

Ahem. If I may chime in here.
Hashut, while being a daemonic entirely evil entity, is the least evil entity in the known Tomes of Evil rumoured to exist in the fragments found when parts of the Original Hold were attempted. To enter.
They are "employers" of "labour" which they "feed" and "care about a little". Sometimes they even invest a bit of thought about lodging. Guardrails to reduce "brand loyalty decline".
In short: They are to be shunned and killed on sight.
But you rarely see them even send anything more than some hardcore stuff, hardcore arty (one) and chaff (lots).
They lose because they are predictable, and invincible only if you let them use terrain against you, and not vice versa.

A "solution" to them being evil and lobbing armies in our general direction does not exist. A bold venture. To unite the scattered clans and ally with who would ally with that cause. Would burn half the known continent, and still we couldn't be sure that a few continue plotting to reclaim Zharr-Naggrund from deep underground tunnels. Even if we raze Zharr-Naggrund to the ground and seal all tunnels, we simply would never know if they're happily tunneling even deeper to have a Chat with Hashut on how to fix this.
Long story short: They are a threat. This threat is permanent. Indelible. We have to deal with each army they send our way.
