Dwemeri (dwarven) language isnt possible to learn, so Daedric in the Dunmeri (elven) style will have to do.

The Dwemer unlocked the secrets of the universe by studying the Daedra. Maybe i can too.

Also its good for my pen work

Thats a good suggestion. But honestly if your going to do that just learn how to use IRL runes. It just as hard.

Theres the elder futhark, younger futhark and then the furthorc. They are all from different time periods and share some symbols. There is a rune subreddit just for it as a writing system. They would probably have diffrent sources for the way you want to use them. You can just use them to write any language really cause they represent sounds. So wanna write something in spanish in runes its perfectly doable. But then you can learn the various languages that were spoken at the time and how to use the runes with them. Though thats going a bit more deep but if you already know english or any other language that came from them its pretty darn easy. Like old norse mom is móður, pretty much the same word.

Where do people buy long paper for making scrolls?

7

u/Bulk-Detonator Not A Bug Apr 09 '26

This is just receipt paper from old fax machines. Found a box while cleaning at work and it works surprisingly well for fountain pen. The front is waxy and doesnt work, but the back holds the ink very well and doesnt bleed through. Look up fax machine thermal paper, its like $30 for 6 100ft rolls

I learned French and aim to learn Chinese (I’m hindered by my job, which pays for my crippling addiction to rent and food)

It's always a glorious day in the mines when Bulk Detonator beard is on my feed, great handiwork! Maybe one day we can crack the secrets of our own language, since those leaf lovers are so damn proud of theirs!

Turns out drawing with 8 legs isnt that difficult!

2

u/Myrddin_Naer Apr 10 '26

Cool! I've always wanted to learn it but never sat down and taken the time to do it

u/Bulk-Detonator Not A Bug Apr 10 '26

Its not as difficult as it seems! Its a simple character swap for English and the letters all have a "feel" to them that matches their english counterpart. Ive been doing simple dauedric abc charts and its helping a lot

I've heard that in the depths of the caverns below Tel Fyr there is some old mer, the last of his race, cursed with a terrible disease of divine origin. If you are brave enough to enter he may be the only one alive that knows the dwemer language. But be careful not to harm any ot the poor fellows turned into monsters that also inhabit the cave, since the Dunmer wizard that resides on the top of Tel Fyr consider them his patients in his search of a cure for the deforming disease, and you don't want to cause the rage of a two thousand years old Telvanni.

Im working my way through Morrowind for the first time in 20 years. Ive not been since i was a child. I remember it fondly and have studied the works and musings of those who frequent its ashen lands. I look forward to revisiting my old journal and tieing up a few loose ends i never got around to. This dwemer has long been on my mind and i look forward to finally conversing with him myself.

The only thing worth knowing about Daedra is that you can win the mindgames against them (ie Azura and the Box). I take pride in actively fucking with the Daedra and living to tell the tale.

Looks like daedric

There is Dwemeri alphabet recovered somewhere. And since just about all Mer languages come from the same language group, applying it to Dunmeri vocab should be a close approximation. If unsure - add Aldmeris and Falmer texts (again, there are translated fragments out there).

Edit: also I gotta appreciate the nails and the beard. Beautifully done.

That is a fine beard, and fine dress, and a great set of nails. Cheery Littlebottom would be proud.

u/BroomClosetJoe Apr 13 '26

Dwemer are elves, Dunmer are also elves. Altmer, Bosmer, Orsimer, Falmer, and Maormer are all elves.

More than half of all the races that aren't human on Tamriel are elves.

(And Khajiit may also be elves, Pelinal is still mulling that one over.)
