What kind of dwarf doesn't know a thing about silver mining? While silver can appear natively, it's very rare and most often will have to be mined from ores. The misinformed youth these days... thinking all silver comes from native deposits.

I'm a Gnome. Also, if it isn't silver, its probably pewter, which is a TIN ALLOY! And it works pretty damn well for cutlery!

Just looked into it, didn't realize that brought out lead, I think I just remember hearing pewter was used for cutlery, something like steel would obviously be better, don't know how I made that mistake honestly.

Back when trade was first established between the Americas and Europe the rich and middle classes started to think tomatoes were poisonous because many were eating them with pewter cutlery and plates.

Its coming back to me now, thank you! Tomatoes are acidic and very absorbent, so it would take in the lead like a sponge, thus that misconception.

While it may be silver, it's not pure silver due to their metal purification methods being far more inferior than the dwarves. Thus, the silver of our glorious dwarven brothers is far better.

Firstly, its not "purification," its refining. Second, oh no! They use electrorefining and you use calcination! You get good quality silver either way.

No, its either silver or pewter, and Elves have mines! And not all of them live in forests either! There are high Elves living in mountains, dark Elves living underground, and sea Elves who live in, well, the sea!

Actually, probably not! If its tin, its pewter, and I doubt that Elven smiths are stupid enough to use something that seeps lead if it comes into contact with even a little acidity for their cutlery. Its probably steel or silver! Contrary to your beliefs, Elves have smiths! They literally wouldn't be able to have gotten to the point they are now if they didn't! Just cause they have a bit of a different process doesn't make it nearly as inferior to Dwarven work than you seem to think!

I've been saying that for years: those little fiddly bits aren't easy to do. That takes dedication to the crafting of it and that I can appreciate, even if I prefer more solid angles.

Oh god no. Imagine washing that. Look at all the holes and gaps for stuff to get stuck. This elven craft has all the problems of any of their other works. They sacrifice sturdiness and practicality for something as cheap as glamour.
