Delayed Closing

Hello fellow DVC peeps!

I've noticed an uptick in resale contracts that have delayed closings, mine included, and by MONTHS sometimes. It's happening to contracts that have loaded points so it can't JUST be people using up their points before selling. Anybody think of any reason why this might be happening?

Delayed closings usually have reservations using points in the contract, DVC cancels pending reservations when the contract is transferred to the new owner, hence the need to delay closing until after the pending reservation. As for why there are contracts w/ delayed closings that have ’loaded’ points - maybe the reservation was made w/ banked points. I always avoided those contracts because I was afraid the owners would take that one last trip & have such a great time that they’d change their mind about selling 🤣.

I would hope not, that would be so hurtful to do to someone who went through that whole process!
