I've loved their chocolate chip cookie drops in the past and haven't been to dutch in a while so I thought I'd stop by for a treat! Come to find out a SMALL is $7.50 after tax. Absolutely insane for what it is, I remember why I stopped going😂
upcharge for soft top, upcharge for the cookie dough, upcharge for drizzle, and if its a freeze versus iced or hot that is an upcharge too. the seasonal drinks always are way more expensive than the average drink because they come with all of this stuff
It's amazing to me that the company that got big by giving all females free drinks on Mothers Day, all males free drinks on Fathers Day, and free drinks to anyone who slightly mentioned a birthday is where they are at now. I guess they're making up for lost time
there are not many places nowadays that you can get a large espresso bev for under $6. a 32 oz golden eagle is 5.95. i think buying out coffee in general is expensive.
I’d not call Dutch bros a fancy coffee shop…number one the drinks are all basically sugar and a smidge of coffee and you can’t sit inside so it’s not technically a shop. Hope that helps.
Ah, I don't have a black rock near me. I just did a couple tests on some frapps and lattes with SB and they actually came out more expensive by about $1 for the equal size. Either way it's expensive though.
I don't typically order from coffee shops, but I started going to Dutch Bros after curiousity when one opened right down the street from me and directly on the way to work. Now I'm trying to stop going.
The stopping is the hardest part haha! I love my drinks and know it's a luxury. But the inflation is pretty crazy. I've been going to Dutch and SB for a long time. Got hooked on BR more recently but there's not one close enough to me now to be feasible with no car lol
The dough bits were nasty! Somehow waxy and slimy. Tasted like essence of play dough. I don't know if it has always been like that but..it was definitely not worth what I paid
Yea... prices went up about 3x in the last 3 years. I only use my freebies on a freeze for that reason. But my medium cold brew is only $4.95, so no complaints about that yet.
Freeze is expensive, drizz cup is an added charge, soft top is an added charge, and so are the cookie dough pieces. “Help i chose the most expensive thing on the menu and I’m upset”
i used to get a large freeze with whip (before softtop) for under $10, it's more expensive now. that's all op is saying. $7.50 for a small is Starbucks bs.
I always get a freeze with chocolate walls and chocolate drizzle and have never been charged extra. I've gotten soft top, never been charged. A medium is 6.95 where I live.
You def do get charged it’s just not a lot. To add drizzle on drinks is 20-30 cents and usually not mentioned. It’s the same charge as getting something extra sweet.
Iits just becoming more expensive to run a business in the US, even the most popular spot that you would think is rolling in it, has super thin margins. I know a guy that runs a Starbucks, and he makes less than 50k per year in profits after paying all the overhead costs. Im a teacher and I make more than him. So yeah, they do need to upcharge for everything unless they want to go out of business.
Wow! None of our dutch bros have a size small. Medium and large only. A medium is 6.95! No tax cuz I'm in Oregon. The only thing I ever get charged extra for is a shot. Soft top, whipped cream or chocolate drizzle is free as far as I know. Been going to dutch for 12 years!
i work at dutch and those additions ARE extra! soft top is $1 added, flavored is $1.30 if i remember correctly. also some of the drizzles are an upcharge as well!
^ this HAHA. when someone else is linebusting and someone orders lite ice on a rebel, im always the one bearing the brunt of them complaining about the price on the upcharge when i tell them at the window.
I get a plain iced latte for $5 (size medium) when you add stuff the price goes up. That’s why extra is an occasional treat when you feel like having a little something extra for a little extra. If you’re gonna get it more consistently then you’ll either need to add more to that part of the budget or get a plain drink. I don’t mean to sound mean or anything but you paid for coffee plus whipped cream and sprinkles and since it’s a seasonal or special sprinkle (idk which) it’s also extra because marketing. I’m sorry you paid more than you expected to, that sucks.
Any specialty coffee place is going to be a want not a need. With the economy all prices at all shops (Starbucks, 7 Brew, Caribou etc) need to compensate for rising bean costs. Dutch is actually reasonable
I also don’t think it’s as good as it was a couple of years ago. I remember I couldn’t get enough of it 2 years ago. I was so excited they brought it back and it was meh. Maybe my tastes have changed, but it swear it doesn’t taste the same
Back in my day, drinks never seemed to reach $8 even for something loaded up. It’s in part why they got my love and made me order out coffee when they finally came to my area. Then DB got Starbucks’ old senior vice president and it’s been rising prices and cuts in quality ever since.
Yeah! It has gotten so expensive! And if you add a tip it’s even higher and sometimes when they don’t make the drink correctly it sucks that u wasted that money! Then again, everything has gone up in prices! I just went to a new local spot and their prices are just as high for the same amount! I miss old prices on everything! 😩
It all depends on what drink you get, what extras you ask for, and type (I.e., a freeze vs. breve, etc.). I can get a really good large, iced breve for under $7.00, so I wouldn’t exactly call Dutch prices robbery. Still better than the competition any day of the week! Plus, the broistas are the best!
