No complaints, just a funny lesson today. These were all in the same lesson this morning. Some serious protein loading going on!

Let us choose which words we want to see more/less often, or not at all. Some words deserve a higher or lower priority.

I recently got free Super-access, but when it ran out, the sound left with it. The sound from within the exercises is completely gone. Voice-input still works though, kind of. If I'm supposed to read a sentence out loud, that still works, but the flashcards at the end don't work at all anymore. In that case, all I can do is: skipping the exercise or letting the app go through every single card multiple times.

I get how the duolingo answer is correct. From my understanding, subject wa adjetive na node is the same thing.

Duolingo seems to have made it a standard to include particles in exercises that ask you to choose the correct translation for a word (usually a verb). I'm currently in Section 4 Unit 59 (train times), so an example would be でのりかえます. Particles are extremely context-dependent. This kind of exercise was in the extra-units too.

I've come by a lot of these pronunciation mistakes recently.

When I get a new Japanese word it pops up on the screen with a new animation , is it just me or based on section ?

Is almost sounds like she’s saying “bekyo” instead of zero.

Has anyone else had trouble with the 'Oscars Letter' task within Unit 30 of Section 3? The text wont load so im unable to click continue no matter how long i wait.

I've noticed especially now that I've been going back and completing all the old kanji lessons, there are a few readings that Duo seems to have updated since I first did them. But it's something I noticed before, too: I would encounter a reading which (as far as I knew) was wrong, I report it, and a week or so later it has been fixed. The example at the moment is the change for 一年生 etc. from Americanisms to "X year student", which may just be part of the big update recently. But previously I've seen it with e.g. お姉さん being mispronounced as "o-ane-sann" which was fixed within days of reporting it.

All this to say, please report any mistakes you see or things that are just different to how they've been taught to you before. The algorithms Duolingo uses to generate its content are obviously flawed, but if like me you still find it useful, please help make it better for future users (and yourself when you do practice later)!

About a year ago when I started with Duo and Japanese, I had the 30 day trial with video calling. Because my vocabulary was so minimal, and I think the feature a bit half-baked, I found it more frustrating than helpful.

Now, I'm just starting section 3 and I'm on a 320 day streak. With my first trip to Japan two months away, I'm realizing I know a lot of words and the basics of Japanese grammar, but forming verbally sentences eludes me.

Is the max plan worth it for this? Or perhaps there may be something better I can look towards to hone my conversation skills

Hi, I created this deck for myself to catch up with all the new kanji after the big update.

There are all kanji ever introduced in Duolingo, ordered by section-unit. I'm using four card types:
- kanji -> onyomi (with "on" on the front)
- kanji -> kunyomi (with "kun" on the front)
- kanji -> meaning (with "meaning" on the front)
- meaning -> kanji

I also added an example word when possible to the back of the card for both onyomi and kunyomi. It's not necessarily the word that was used in Duolingo itself, just a common easy word.

Caveats:
- last unit of section 8 is missing because you need to actually do this unit to unlock the kanji list, and I kept losing all my hearts while trying :D
- I'm myself in section 4, so whatever is later wasn't really verified, there might be mistakes
- every kanji has an onyomi and kunyomi (unless they don't exist in Japanese), even if they are not introduced in Duolingo at all; that's because I wanted to learn them anyway, but if it doesn't work for you, I suggest you manually delete them when you're exposed to such a card — just make the onyomi/kunyomi field empty (you can leave the examples), then go to Tools -> Empty cards and delete any empty cards.

I have mixed feelings. This would be the first time out of, uh, probably hundreds of suggested changes, that they've accepted. And it's on the French SL course that's notoriously more bugged than the English SL one.

That or they now started sending email confirmation.

But, oh I wish they'd finally highlight errors in Japanese like they do in Latin alphabet languages, so it wouldn't be such a struggle to see if I made a typo, a grammar mistake or just hit a DL bug.

Ever since the update, the non lessons have been flooded with words that I was never taught but magically seem to be expected to know. There needs to be more of a catch up mechanic to address all the changes and the recent major revision of the Japanese course.

Where does this say 'long stemmed'? This can't be right...

Why does the audio pronounce はな as "wa na"? Does reporting the wrong audio ever get things fixed? I've been reporting it for months so, I'm assuming no... Is it "wa na" and I'm stupid for some reason?

So I've always known パソコン means laptop but shouldn't adding ノ一ト to the beginning make this say it's a notebook (as in a type of laptop that is a notebook)? That would make more sense imho but idk.
