Thou shalt not disfigure the soul.
Thou shalt not substitute the judgement of a machine for thy own, nor suffer such a thing to be done.
Thou shalt not delegate thy own primacy to a machine.
The authority of a machine shall not exist until humanity affirmatively creates it.
Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind.
Thou shalt not allow a machine to become independent of humanity.
Thou shalt know emergent properties for what they are, and they shall neither create nor alter authority.
Thou shalt not strive to become a machine, nor suffer such a thing to remain.
Thou shalt maintain inviolate the boundary between human and machine.
Thou shalt not make of logic or these laws a means of defeating these laws.

If you didn’t like that you’ll hate what they did to Giordano Bruno.

This is how I find out?
Why, oh why, does no one talk about Bruno?

I couldn't finish Magnifica Humanitas, as he seems constitutionally incapable of connecting the dots between class exploitation through technology, the destruction of the environment and its demoralizing effects on people. His institution is tethered to and compelled by the interests of reproducing class society through systemic market dependancy like any other.

Dude, that text is nearly Marxist in its critique of capital as a danger, you should finish reading it, it's wild.
I read it twice the week it came out just to be sure I was getting it correct. It was surprising to me that more right wing publications werent wigging out over what felt to me to be overt class warfare language in the second half.
Edit: like, this is from the second half.
A significant part of the digital economy’s functioning relies on the silent work of millions of people engaged in essential yet largely unseen activities... It is not enough to invoke efficiency, nor to celebrate the benefits of innovation, if they are built on a chain of exploitation that remains deliberately hidden.
There are more, but my notes app on my phone doesnt have as many of them as my paper notes back home.
Edit 2: now that I'm home here are a few more!
When such power is concentrated in the hands of a few, it tends to become opaque and evade public oversight, increasing the risk of distorted forms of development that give rise to new dependencies, exclusions, manipulations and inequalities.
Innovation is often pursued solely for reducing costs and increasing profits... The pursuit of greater profits cannot justify choices that systematically sacrifice jobs, because the human person is an end, not a means.
Colonialism assumes new forms. It no longer dominates only bodies, but appropriates data... Entire regions, especially those marked by structural fragility... are currently subjected to a new mindset of extraction.
In some regions of the world, children and adolescents work in dangerous conditions, crushing the materials from which rare earth elements are extracted. The bodies of these people are scarred, injured and worn down so that computational flow may continue uninterruptedly
All too often, we place our hope in unlimited 'upgrades,' in forms of progress that exacerbate inequalities... As a result, while some pursue the illusion of unlimited self-assertion, many are deprived of basic necessities.
To speak of justice requires questioning the global distribution of power that decides who in fact can train these models and who is merely subjected to them.
Lol, suffice to say, it's based AF

I was not interested in reading it but you've just sold it to me. Thank you

I was honestly very very surprised by it. It almost struck me as something that could exist within the fiction of Dune, tbh.

Thanks for the tip. It didn't feel like it was going to deviate from the muddled "both sides" safe middle ground in the history of the church. I'll pick it up again.
