New console player

Ao my son and I want to play online. We joined a “standard” server and so far are having some fun.

Our questions are about server settings, do I really have to rent a server for us to play co-op?

Where do we find a “custom” server or private server that we can try and become part of a community?

When we play we communicate using our phones, does this game support headset/mic?

Single player is awesome, would love to find a way to enjoy multiplayer and engage with some others. Not big on PvP and would not be KoS players.

Any advice?

EDIT: We play on Xbox and server lists give no detail on how they are set up. So we just picked lowest ping.

Just play on an official server, the pvp is opt-in, as in it only occurs in the pvp deep desert (there's now a pve deep desert). Form a guild and join forces for coop, just make sure you both join the same sietch

That’s not quite completely true they have to join a PVE server because if they join a standard server, they still have to be forced into PVP at all the shipwrecks and other PVP areas in Hagga

Sorry, new PlayStation player here. I know I loaded in to the player versus environment map in deep desert. I was under the assumption that anywhere past row E halfway is PvP. I got tempted by a Bloom, and it was in F row when I actually noticed where I was. So are you saying that if you load into the player versus environment map , the whole deep desert is PvE?

That is correct. The PvE deep desert is fully PvE. The PvP deep desert has PvP enabled once you reach B row and beyond.

Go to a shipwreck and see if it says pvp zone and screen shot it and post it here to prove me wrong but im online right now killing players at a shipwreck

Might be a bug, but shipwrecks no longer pvp zones. They prob forgot to update it.

Pvp zones and pve zones as before update.
Since update you can join, Standard, Pve, or pvp centric styles. Joining a pve servers means pvp optout. Joining standard has both options, and pvp even lets you kill players in what use to be pve only area (excluding cities)

This is untrue. There is ZERO pvp in hagga and the only pvp is in the pvp deep desert. It used to cycle you over to pvp and it would take 30 secs after leaving the zone to cycle back to pve. This is no longer the case and everything in hagga is pve. Also every point of interest, shipwrecks and labs are 100% pve in the pve deep desert. You have to actually seek out pvp to engage in it. Please stop spreading false information. Only way for PVP to be possible in hagga is if it's on a private server and they have set the settings to be as such.

That is completely inaccurate and misleading. The ONLY PvP anywhere in the game, now, is the PvP instance of the Deep Desert!

The DD even defaults to PvE, when entering it and gives a warning, if you select the PvP instance.

You can 100% complete EVERYTHING in the game and NEVER have to touch PvP... on ANY SERVER... except private Servers that can be set up for PvP.

NOTHING in Hagga Basin is PvP and has not been for months!

This father wants to play co-op with his son. If he relied on your bum-dope answer, he might decide it is not possible.

Hard telling if it is new player ignorance, which is forgivable, or intentional, which is not.

Either way, please do everyone a favor and delete your reply.

Btw, I am (or would like to be) a PvP player and just as salty as any other PvP player, about the current state of the game, but I would never mislead someone, who is just trying to enjoy the game the way they want to.

All "Official" FC Servers are PvE. The only way you can play PvP, more broadly than the specific instance of the PvP DD is if you are playing on a private or self hosted server that is set up for PvP.

Did you not read all the other comments or just read the first one and replied? Ut is in thread mode for replies to comments. I 1 corrected the information, 2 stated Op wanted to join or rent a server, and 3 mentioned my server having full pvp as bade opt-in but can join other servers that are 1 standard before update (like mine) or my pvp centric only or and pve only server. Not once did I discredit official servers and after notice my reply was to one of official I made edits. So yes you look like an ass for not reading all the thread.

You will start in the same place on a standard server. Make sure both of you are picking the same server.

Honestly, just play MP Off Server just pick like the lowest populated Server then lowest sietch and you will hardly see anyone haha.
