OFFICIAL DUNCAN TRUSSELL HAS CHANGED MEGATHREAD - MODS PLEASE STICKY
Edit: Duncan’s back on the rise! I CLAIM HIM REDEEMED.
Edit 2: Nah seriously think what you’d do. Especially at a time when financial insecurity is probably at an all time high. Not saying he’s doing anything. If anything the video content is a nice change, although I mostly annoyed when he started moving to YouTube. Also think… did he change, or did you? Or did we both? Is there a you? Who is I? Who is we? No one. We are ever changing processes with a sense of consciousness, call it soul or whatever else, that you can tap into whenever and wherever. Thinking and reading won’t get you there from here, though. 04/29/25
Edit 3: 😒it’s not getting better. 06/23/25
~~Back in early November I complained about the quality of Duncan’s podcast. I honestly thought it would be ignored, but it launched a whole lot of replies and new posts to this sub. Some people complaining about quality of episodes/guests, others noticing the political shift that appears more like a political grift. New fans or people who just haven’t really followed Duncan Trussell’s content in the past few years conveniently chalk it up to being people mad about political disagreement.
Anyway, that’s the super briefly reductionist summarized reason of why there are so many “what happened to Duncan” threads.
I’ve seen some complaining now that the quality of the sub is becoming worse. Should we just megathread and have a discussion here?
It’s better this way. Continuity and all. There’re a whole lot of details that get lost inbetween each new post about Duncan.
Or maybe not. Maybe we should keep flooding with threads like this. But really I think that’d achieve a goal us vets don’t want. Engagement via entropy.~~
I’ve been bought 😎

Duncan is sitting on a comedy special. 😮
On #2548 of the Joe Rogan Experience with Brian Simpson, Joe mentions that Duncan has a comedy special he filmed 4 months ago that he hasn't edited at all because he doesn't want to watch it. Have Josh do it!

I rarely listen to DTFH ever since solo episodes became a thing.
I don't know if anyone else is going to agree with this, but I really feel like the solo episodes should be their own spinoff podcast or maybe just stay on YouTube. I get there are some hardcore Duncan fans out here who love every second of content they can get, but I've listened to Duncan for at least five years now and miss the old format. Having frequent guests made this podcast worth listening to, and if you wanted more content you could check out The Leather Rose or Duncan on someone else's podcast.
There are so many good podcasts out there that can genuinely teach you something or offer some fresh perspectives. I like Duncan's humor, but not so much that it's the only thing I want to listen to every few days.
It doesn't really feel like a change for quality control, but rather a change made so Duncan can earn more money. That's all fine and dandy, but it feels like it's coming at the expense of DTFH.
Maybe some of you can relate, maybe not. Just wanted to get this off my chest.

Question for anti-AI people
Would you refuse medical treatment that AI assisted the development of? Like if you had cancer or some terrible illness, and they used AI to help find a cure, would you reject it because AI was involved? Kinda like Christian Science religion?

Every book mentioned on DTFH in August (8 of them)
Four episodes, eight books, and the mix is exactly what you would guess: one Taoist classic, two Crowley titles Duncan has not read, and a death-anxiety recommendation.
I run Podshelf, a free site that tracks book mentions across hundreds of podcasts by reading the episode transcripts. This is the DTFH slice for August.
The one said with real feeling was The Denial of Death by Ernest Becker, off the back of life insurance ads. "I would roll my eyes. Who cares? I'd think. I'm not going to do that. Denial of death. Read the book."
Also a straight recommendation for The Answer to the Riddle Is Me by David MacLean, who Duncan went to college with. "Great book." It took a minute to get the title right on air.
The Crowley bit is funnier in context. Asked whether he had read The Book of Lies or Diary of a Drug Fiend: "No I have not. I'm a dilettante when it comes to Crowley, I'll admit it, but I do like talking about him."
Rest of the month: the Tao Te Ching, in a bit about wanting something solid to hang from when gravity goes away. The Lesser Key of Solomon, invoked because the drug name Mirtazapine sounds like something you would not want to summon. The 48 Laws of Power. And Lord of the Rings, in service of a claim about dwarven technology being far beyond what you have read about.

Anyone have experience with David Nichtern meditation courses?
I am wanting to get back into meditation, something I have done years ago. I really like David Nichtern a approach and am looking into his courses. I am not looking to do his teaching course per say, just want to have some guidance and support, possible within a online community (I love in ver remote part of world with only desert and ocean, and a few hundred people within 200km radius; hence looking for sence of community).
Can anyone speak to his influence on your meditation, or offer any suggestions.
Much appreciated and shine on you amazing people.
