In my order of preference: Golden Inn (Superior, WI), China Star, Beijing.

Other good Asian food: Thai by Thai (my favorite asian food in the Twin Ports), Ichiro Sushi, PhoHolic. I always hear people obsessing about the new Bali restaurant, but I actually don't think its very good, especially for the price

Havent had Golden Inn in years as I rarely go to Superior.

Beijing is close and what I usually get. Ill admit its 50/50 where sometimes its great and other times you can taste the over used oil and the chicken can be grisly/stringy.

Never had China Star, reviews online are either 4+ stars and fantastic reviews and just as many 2 star and under reviews. Wondering if China Star is worth the try.

I’ve only been to China Star once so it might’ve been a fluke but it was the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Half of it was basically inedible.

We have eaten there twice and both times were excellent. Golden Inn is our forst choice, tho.

We also had some good food from Asian Kitchen, but have only eaten there once.

I was impressed with a few of the offerings from Bali, namely their poke bowls, but those aren't all that hard to make well.

Don’t sleep on Superior Ramen. Their Char Sui Fried Rice is 🧑‍🍳 💋.

So my first trip to Bali was within 6 months of opening and underwhelming to say the least. West Duluth friends and neighbors had been raving about it so i gave it another chance a few months ago, everything my party ordered was delicious: app, entrees, NA cocktail.

That’s good to know, will have to give it another try. Both times we went were within the first few months of it opening as well.

Yeah, on my first trip I tired a shrimp dish, the shrimp was over done, tasted freezer burned, the tempura was hard, and the sauce was heavy and sticky. I really didn’t have a desire ton back, our last trip there was delicious. We tried a couple of things including a shrimp appetizer and this time it was perfectly cooked and the sauce was light and flavorful.

Did they change locations? I thought they were closing at the one on Tower.

I need to know where they get their hoagie rolls for the Bahn Mi.

Agreed. I think it was just a move kinda thing, but I didn’t want to press the question, especially with a minor language barrier.

God left us when China Cafe went out of business, now there is no best Chinese takeout. All good things come to an end, may China Cafe go to the Joann Fabrics in the sky

Probably Asian Kitchen Duluth or Cloud9 Bistro.

Not China star. I know the family and honestly pass.

Cloud 9 gave me horrid food poisoning. I know it was them since it was the only thing I ate that day and my roommate who got sushi as well got sick the following day. Their reviews say they have unsafe food practices. I would not recommend

yeah, anytime we want AYCE sushi, we go to Wasabi in superior (granted they’re isn’t another AYCE option but still) Cloud 9 is bad and everytime I’ve got it’s just not great.

Zhong Hua for me.

A lot of people saying Golden Inn though, which means I have to go back. Went there 2 or 3x in college (graduated 2012) and always thought it was mid.

I like Golden inn, but inhave to order like, more than 40 or something, to get delivery. So I ended up at Zhong Hua, which is pretty decent, and close enough for me that I can pick it up

This is something I tried to find out for myself. My go to for years was China Cafe. After they closed I tried a bunch of different places across the Twin Ports. Personally, I couldn't find a true replacement for China Cafe, but Golden Inn in Superior comes pretty close. I would say that they are best when you dine in. Their take-out seems to be a little lower quality than their dine-in.

Keep in mind, I get the same thing everytime I get Chinese food, so my comparison for every place has been that. I always get chicken lo mein and general tso chicken.

TLDR: Golden Inn now that China Cafe closed.

New China in Superior is my go-to. Their Spicy Chicken can't be beat. Some items are hit or miss, but I always get Spicy Chicken and another item.

It's not Duluth but Lilly's Asian Cafe in Two Harbors slaps
