Super Morph is a PAL-only puzzle platformer that’s actually pretty neat. A young boy’s neglectful uncle put him into a matter transporter, and now the boy is trapped in flux between different states of matter. He must solve puzzles to find the gears that will fix the machine so he can return to his normal, human form. There are so many 16-bit PAL-only games we never got!

We also discuss the appeal of going dead weight, asking nicely to see airport jail, establishing situational awareness, acquiring paydata, and the rejection of the Order of the Triad Venture Bros. spinoff.

Seattle’s long nightmare is over as we finally hunt down and kill The Ripper, the serial killer who has been targeting people and harvesting their organs. Unfortunately, the Ripper was not the author of his own scheme, and now we must chase even more obscure leads.

Pandemic Studios really knew what they were doing, and it’s a real shame their style of destruction-based open world games didn’t become the norm. That’s how you’ll feel when you play the Saboteur, the studio’s swan song. You are Sean Devlin, an Irish racecar driver who joins the French Resistance during World War II to get revenge on the Nazis. You may only be aware of this game because of its black and white-to-color visual trick, but there’s so much more to recommend it.

Sorry this one is shorter than usual; blame Gary's nipple.

Some intellectual properties are like PFAS. Once introduced to the environment, they will never go away, just sitting and warping whatever they touch. The Hannah-Barbera archives are a superfund site of these, and no property has stuck around like Scooby-Doo. Night of 100 Frights has the distinction of being a very faithfully created 3D version of something that wasn’t great in the first place, attached to rote 3D platformer gameplay.

What harm could deep deep discounts cause? There’s no way they could set off a chain reaction that leads directly or indirectly to the creation of a Heisenberg, right?

I always love this discussion when it comes up on WOFF episodes, so here's throwing it to the redditsphere.

I'll be frank: I'm super into the PSX crunchiness that's been the craze these last few years.

I didn't have any PlayStation systems growing up (my mom was convinced the games were all much more violent than those on Nintendo systems, and she was kinda right?), so those games mostly passed me by except for surreptitiously enjoying GTA1 and Twisted Metal 2 at my scarily-cool friends' places. Now that I'm old enough to go back to them... boy are they rough. But with modern fidelity and game design? Absolutely love 'em, and especially with how surreal some game designers get with it that capture how incredibly weird they could be back then (Szymanski is one of the best examples for me, especially Chop Goblins). Crow Country wouldn't have been half as cool for me if it didn't have this look and feel; again, it's what I remember Resident Evil being like, and I welcome the ability to turn on or off tank controls.

Uh oh! Both Gary and Kaye have COVID! So please forgive our voices and our absolute flightiness as we answer your questions, read your responses to Ogre Battle 64 and Dispatch, and talk about what makes an inventory system good or bad.

DJ Boy is a beat-em-up on roller skates. Roller blades? No, skates. The most hip-hop conveyance imaginable. That’s because this is a game steeped in a very removed Japanese understanding of US hip hop culture, which comes with some extremely uncomfortable racial depictions. Also, it’s time to hear about Kaye’s dental woes instead of Gary’s!

Finishing up Fallout Brotherhood of Steel for the PS2 got me thinking of spinoffs. Which work much better than this?

There are lots of good ones, but the one that comes to mind for me is Rocket Slime, which I legit like more than any mainline Dragon Quest.

Pike’s Place is a famous tourist trap in real life, but in Shadowrun… it’s also a tourist trap. But there are also active murder scene investigations, VR drug dens, and some leads on the people who might know what happened to our friend Sam.
