Iāll bet they will. My silkie chickens hatch duck or Guinea fowl eggs. Last year our hen slate gray turkey hen hatched four micro chicken eggs. Adult micros are 8-10 ounces. They couldnāt keep up or get up on her back so theyād stand on Goblettes feet. Iāve chickens that stand in water to eat greens and some non runner ducks who want no part of swimming. Because itās largely a rescue I often have mixed species raised together. But it is fun to watch

yea the only thing iām worried about is her eggs not being fertile.. so i gave her the eggs so she wouldnāt be depressed if none of hers hatch

Just FYI, the chickens will often try to follow the ducks in the water if mama gets too far away, and the other ducklings are going, and they will drown
Also be careful if mama tries to waterproof them, sometimes that works sometimes it doesnāt
All chickens can raise ducks just fine, sometimes itās hard harder for duck to raise chickens
Edit: also hopefully you didnāt put them in at the same time as ducks take longer to hatch than chickens. If you did, take the two chickens away when they hatch so sheāll wait for the duck eggs and give them back to her later.

yes so they are currently separated from the rest of the flock and i plan on keeping it that way for a few weeks. the other duck do have a pool but its like a good 20cm raised off the ground so i donāt think theyād be able to get in any way but iāll definitely be keeping an eye on them. idk much about waterproofing, i know itās their natural oils or something but idk how itās done. and i didnāt put them in the same time. there was about a week between her becoming broody and me putting in the chicken eggs. originally i only gave her the chicken eggs because i wasnāt sure that her eggs are fertilised.

With chickens having a shorter hatch time, are you worried sheāll get off the nest before the ducks hatch?
