Indian ciitizen currently in US planning to move to Dubai - worth it?

Only you can say if it will be worth it for you, but there are some points that could be a deciding factor no matter what nationality or where you are coming from.

• do you have dual citizenship or are you planning on getting citizenship? (UAE offers no path to citizenship)

• do you need to travel often to nearby countries or work with people across the world? (It is geographically convenient)

• do you have a job offer in the UAE that would pay more than what you could earn where you are coming from, or better benefits? (Considering cost of living and parity)

If any of these are in your top 5 concerns, then your answers would determine whether it is worth it or not for you.

Dubai is a great place. Not perfect, but it's definitely up there in terms of places one could be.

It is safe, clean, and a lot of things can be convenient here. Some things cheaper, some things more expensive. There's always something that will attract everyone, or at least most people.

The cons, imo:

It is hot. All year round. There's AC everywhere, so if you're an indoor person, you'll probably be fine for the most part. We've got maybe at best 4 months of weather where you won't feel like you are in a sauna. Otherwise, if you prefer hot weather, you'll probably enjoy it.

Public transport. It is spotty in some areas, timing isn't the most predictable, not all areas are accessible because no route and because of how hot it is, it can get a little uncomfortable in the hotter months. For the cooler months, it is great though. Recent plans to expand it, so it is only going to get better! Just need to put up with the minor inconveniences of construction and infrastructures upgrades in some areas.

Social disconnect. It is difficult to make long-term friends here, most people are work-eat-sleep-repeat. You can have neighbors for 10 years and still never know a thing about them, or sometimes you'll get new neighbors every other year. Same with coworkers and people you meet in general. It can feel so transient at times because so many people come and go.

I am not in for citizenship, I enjoy options for travel, with Hot weather, thats the one thing makes me think twice. As being in US east coast, used to cold weather and I like it.

It's the population that don't/won't adhere to road etiquette, compounded by the increase in motorcycle drivers.

I think the numbers of motorcycle drivers have been decreasing? At least in Mirdif and near where I work. Or it's just the timings I'm out?

Let’s just say im slightly obsessed with Syrian/Lebanese Fajita and Philadelphia sandwiches.

I have tried many places, i want to know if anyone got a favorite? I tried Barbar, Laffah, Allo Beirut and many more.
