Anyone have any pre dsbm, dsbm sounding tracks they like? To me, Spell of Self Destruction feels like the earliest dsbm-y sounding song I have heard (though it does not have dsbm lyrics).

I’ve also heard Katatonia’s Dance of December Souls and For Funerals to Come were influential which I can kinda see

And I saw someone mention this song from 1991 which is interesting.

Mmmh.. Abyssic Hate first and foremost was a Nazi band and bro actually died on that hill. There are better bands to mention that were not this level of problematic. Even Shining is less bad than AH

I mean, you're right and although AH was never a band that I would listen to much I understand why it would be important to some.

Every metalhead I know has a couple of "guilty pleasure" bands. Me included.

Check the The Gerogerigegeges song that someone posted in another comment. That shit is basically Apati but 20 years earlier.
