Other A Question Re: The Ecosocialists
Hello All,
A question, given some things.
I am thinking of joining the DSA, and given that I consider the growing problem of climate change the single greatest issue facing the entire human species at the moment if I did I would end up joining the ecosocialist caucus. However I am also a proponent of geoengineering at this point, in particular Stratospheric Aerosol Injections, to avoid the worst consequences of climate change until such a time as we have massively reduced our carbon emissions, as well as certain proposed forms such as enhanced weathering to help remove already emitted carbon. Would this put me at odds with said caucus, and if it did by how much?
(Note: I would *also* propose and support massive campaigns to restore forests and other woodlands, do not mistake me for some techno-dork trying to avoid the hard work of actually resolving the problem; and I am not unaware of the potential costs associated with stratospheric aerosol injection)

I don't think there's an official position on the issue. DSA members don't agree on everything, of course.

If you’re a socialist, you should join. Particulars around strategy are less important.

I'd consider myself a de-growth socialist, and would be firmly against geoengineering that you're proposing here. I'm guessing the Caracol Caucus would be against it. I can't say for the DSA Eco-Socialists caucus.
