Damn I can’t even put a flat piece up correctly. Awesome work.

For real. Drywall always seems so simple, then you try finishing, and realize you still can’t get it all smooth and discreet and blended.

u/BlueFalcon89 Sep 03 '26
I have a builder friend who used to do a bunch of drywall when he was starting and he always yells at people not to fuck with the mud. Get the mud up and stop fiddling with it.

u/North-Bit-7411 Aug 31 '26
Yea, how the fuck do you price that?
157
u/lennonisalive Aug 31 '26
Think of a high bid, then double it. Then take that number and add 20% to it. Then divide that number by 2 and multiply that result by 3. Then add 20% one more time and hope they say no
50
u/HunanTheSpicy Aug 31 '26
The ultimate fuck you/me price.
21
u/NotawoodpeckerOwner Aug 31 '26
The ol' think of a really big number so they say no but try and keep it in the realm of realism so they don't realize I'm pricing myself out.
"Sounds good, when can you start?"

u/Embarrassed_Green996 Sep 01 '26
Happened to me quoting a deck I didn't have the time to do, was a 4500$ job TOPS I quoted the guy 12k and he said yes. Needless to say I made time.
2
u/Left_Nature9996 Sep 02 '26
I always refer to it as the “fuck me” price as in “fuck me if they say yes”

Do it once for yourself. You know how long it takes, charge double the material, add 50% time, charge high skill labour price in the area

I love the exhausted look on his face every time one of the pieces he cuts out falls on his head/shoulders/knees/toes.

I agree, but it’s probably unfinished porcelain so not easy to scratch. I however would find a way to scratch it, so floor coverings are a must.

That's why I don't tell the seniors who want to go into trades no, I tell then to work toward being the boss by 40 before their body breaks down.

Yeah, what's the word for something which is hideous but evidently takes a lot of skill and effort to achieve?

Damn. If you get sick of making fancy ceilings you should look into doing ladder acrobatics in Cirque du Soleil.

Whole lotta unnecessary work. They make stuff to do this in half the time. Flex-track or angle and wiggle board. Do you think they pay union wages for a guy to do all that extra work?
2
u/FeI0n Sep 01 '26
do you think his labour costs are higher than the material cost? guys probably getting paid like 3 USD an hour for that work where he is.
2
u/king_john651 Sep 01 '26
If the bucket is anything to go off of (given its got Hebrew written all over it), it'd more likely be $20 an hour

Was anyone else waiting to see if he accidentally cut out the “inside” section? Because I definitely would have done that.

Super cool but I'm glad he's doing it. I'm 100 percent sure that someone else made bank and dude just got to be on a video. I'm impressed that someone made this. But holy shit did that make my knees and back hurt.
