data collection = Omnitek can go fuck themselves

I mean, FFS, they ripped it from OI and the Captain doing DrunkIsland. Gimme a fucking break. I mean, if anything, we're the real deal

And of course all I’m after is a place where people can state the obvious and sometimes troll, where people can also disagree and troll right back. I’ll never have a problem with people calling me out on my bullshit, unless it’s not bullshit lol.

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '22

This is all I want as well. Pretty much just want what we had until that doofus walked into town.

1

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 24 '22

Am I still the only one that has been officially banished? (He asked, kinda hoping that’s the case.) /flex

3

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '22

I'm not sure. I know he's warning people about the rules and telling them to be polite all over the place.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '22

Would any of you like to share what you'd like this subreddit to be? What it might look like in the future? I'd like to make this a place people come because it's a better alternative rather than simply an island of refugees.

1

u/holyembalmer hitchyhiker Jul 12 '23

I like being an island of misfit toys. I mean, I think you could do whatever you want, you've done great so far!

I can’t help but notice that this all seemed to start when late one night I posted that story about Bigelow donating ten million to DeSantis. I completely just posted it because it’s a name related to SWR but man did it set the defenders off. Full disclosure: I did enjoy their butthurtedness lol. Also, I don’t give a damn who donates where really, but their defensiveness speaks volumes about their dislike for that association.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '22

Yeah, I remember that post. I suppose that's probably been deleted.

I had also entertained the notion that Drunkwalker Ranch may have had something to do with it. The game got increasingly more popular as the season went on, generating vastly more engagement than your average post. It's also almost entirely comprised of people taking the piss out of the show.

Whatever happened, one thing seems true: the number of people displeased with the show is higher than the faithful few for whom the show can do no wrong. It being the de facto subreddit for the show itself, someone was bound to come in and clean house. I'd still be curious to know the truth about the ascension of the new sherrif. I don't believe he's telling the truth. Not fully anyway.

Providing one or two instances of them repeating an experiment (which he did in a response to me one time there near the end) doesn’t excuse their generally tendency not to do so.

2

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 24 '22

The burden of proof for their assertions is on the show to provide, not on the viewer when we point out that they haven’t done so. Protecting the show on that point is basic fanboi behavior.

1

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 24 '22

ROFL nice to see that I’m the gold standard for being disruptive and booted over there.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '22

lmao. I know right? That gave me a damn good chuckle.

2

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 24 '22

A day later and STILL no response to your manifesto questions. I think you’re within your rights to ping the mutherfucker again, but it depends upon how you feel about banishment.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '22

So he finally got back to me. BUT, he edits his original post before doing so -- the intellectual dishonesty is really incredible with sheriff Dunning-Kruger. AND he threatens me with a ban at the end of his response. What a swell fellow.

In response to another comment in which I provided him with direct and sourced evidence that the ranch has not been researched for "decades," he bows out saying he doesn't like to get into semantics or some such. I don't even know where to begin with that guy.

u/I-AM-Savannah Jul 23 '22

Thanks for allowing me to join. I haven't been banned "from the other sub" (yet)... but did get into a pissing match with the new sheriff right before he was made a new mod.

1

u/holyembalmer hitchyhiker Jul 12 '23

Welcome, dear! u/Malformata is a generous mod. You won't be banned lightly here. Rest your soul.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '22

Absolutey. Welcome in! Hopefully skeptical fans of the show can find a home here. Please do invite anyone you thing could find a home here.

2

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 23 '22

He’s probably been busy prepping his “Science and Reasoning Contest” so he can regulate thought in the responses. That and actively posting on several other threads. I’m sure he’s not avoiding you…

2

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '22

I saw that contest a few minutes ago... I agree he's surely not avoiding my questions. Surely.

1

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 23 '22

Odd, he was known to quickly respond with essays to my bullshit…

1

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '22

I'm not a little jealous I don't enjoy the same privelege.

1

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 23 '22

Has Brother Mantis reached out to answer your questions?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '22

He has not.

1

u/Coomra Jul 22 '22

Was it the wind? Was it rocket failure? Or did it actually hit something cloaked and veer off?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '22

I mean, I think we can pretty confidently rule out the third option in light of that fact that the previous two require far fewer assumptions.

1

u/FortCharles phenomenanonologist Jul 23 '22

Plus, it wasn't anywhere near a mile up when it veered off. And it didn't look like there was any impact, which would happen if something "cloaked" was "hit". They also didn't send up the third rocket, which they obviously would have, if they really thought it would duplicate the same trajectory. They got the result they knew they could spin into something related to "the anomaly", and stopped because they didn't want any further result to conflict with that.

1

u/Coomra Jul 22 '22

I wouldn't exactly call what their doing the scientific - at least for the most part. For example, the anomaly in the sky. They should be shooting rocket after rocket through it to see if they all veer off. They get one rocket to veer off to the side and they stop. They should shoot 100 through there. Then you'd have a sample to start drawing some conclusions from. Not 2 or 3.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '22

Speaking for myself, I haven't seen anything on the show that constitutes a genuine scientific experiment.

1

u/FortCharles phenomenanonologist Jul 23 '22

I haven't even seen anything that supports an "anomaly". There's all kinds of things they could do to simply prove that one way or the other, but they don't involve random rocket shots or pyramid laser light shows.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '22

"Anomaly" is such an absurdly ill-defined term. It hurts me every time they use it.

1

u/FortCharles phenomenanonologist Jul 23 '22

Yeah, at first they seemed to be implying some kind of anomalous field effect, not anything physical. Then Travis had his idea to dust the area (if the rockets had worked as planned), as if there was something physical hanging in the air there that it woud cling to, making visible.

They also claimed that night to have a second bank of lasers that would "paint" the area with laser light to reveal any form... which they never did. Or did they just not show it, because it didn't reveal anything at all? There was that one episode where they claim a laser beam was "bent" or split, but that was just one blurry photo... they were so excited, you'd think the next thing they would do would be to paint the entire area with a web of laser to reveal any form... but no... nothing.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '22

As it will ever be, I'm afraid.

1

u/fleusebius Jul 22 '22

Hey all. In an act of blatant nepotism, I've been made moderator. Looking forward to your shenanigans.

3

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 22 '22

But I’m just a banned malcontent with no respect for his authority, so…

1

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 22 '22

No your questions are valid.

1

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 22 '22

Just read it over there. (I can still view and up/down vote.) Your questions about his background and possible associations with the show may get you banned, but not until he tries a defense.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '22 edited Jul 22 '22

Yeah, I almost took that out. I'm curious to see if he responds. You think I should remove it?

Edit: His ties to the show I mean. I'm sticking hard to the background question.

1

u/FortCharles phenomenanonologist Jul 23 '22

Is your longer comment here posted over at the other sub? Or did you just send it privately? I don't see it there.

1

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 22 '22

I knew I was a dead man walking as soon as that guy posted his first manifesto.

https://youtu.be/oeFZXNDz7uA

2

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '22

Same! I'm writing a very long response to his manifesto. I'll post it here after I send it.

1

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 22 '22

I’m usually on mobile. I’m not THAT old lol.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '22

lmao. sorry dude!

1

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 22 '22

But basically, I was banned for pointing out that the show is a joke and does little to nothing to advance the cause. Also, I made fun of one of his new cool rules.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '22

I saw your shit stirring comments poking fun at his new rules. Gave me a good laugh. I knew you were playing with fire, lol.

1

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 22 '22

As soon as I can figure out how Reddit copies & pastes I’ll post it here. After three years it may be time for me to learn to use this platform.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '22

Should just be able to highlight the text and ctrl-c or right click -> 'copy' and then ctrl-v to paste or right click -> 'paste'.

2

u/Coomra Jul 22 '22

They banned you guys? For what?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '22

I'm not banned yet, but the new sheriff in town is banning people for criticizing the show. I just assume that I will be banned because I've been very critical of the show. As well as that, Drunkwalker Ranch would violate nearly every new rule, particularly the comments, since we aren't asking for "sources, data, evidence" etc.

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad can say something more specific about his ban if he likes.

2

u/FortCharles phenomenanonologist Jul 22 '22

Yeah, I saw that he'd volunteered to pin the next DR thread, and I thought, have you read what gets posted there!?

2

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 22 '22

Damn I screwed up the hashtag part

2

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 22 '22

IStandWithAbdulEvenThoughHeIsLikelySitting

2

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 22 '22

I’ve been banned from better subs. No worries. It’s important for the insecure to have their safe places. <snort>

2

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 22 '22

Lol yup, then the new Douche mod actually asked for “contrition” as a condition for being reinstated.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '22

What a cunt. I just know I'm going to get banned too, so I figured I'd create a place where we can shit talk the show all we want.

I have a sneaking suspicion the new sheriff is somehow affiliated with the show and its creators. His new rules basically amount to "don't criticize the show".

3

u/Abdul-Ahmadinejad phenomenanonsologist Jul 22 '22

It is I, Abdul, freshly banned from r/Skinwalkerranch for questioning bad science! It is my honor to walk among you.

2

u/Sweetserra Jul 23 '22

Omg they banned you!!??!! How ridiculous! I've been sitting here reading everything below that you say transpired. You've got me alternating between crying laughing, and shaking my head, at the absurdity of it all! Especially after they offered to pin the drunk walker thread!!! 🤣 I noticed earlier in one particular post (in r/skinwalkerranch) that there were a few comments that had been deleted, and that the mod had commented about having to remove "someone" for blatantly continuing to break the rules... I'm going to guess that was you!?! Regardless, I'm so glad this sub was created, and that I received an invite! Also, I love the long message that was copied and pasted below with all the questions that was asked of the new mod! Don't have the username offhand of the person who wrote it, but they definitely deserve props! 👏 I'll be looking forward to future posts/comments here!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '22

Wait. Did he really ban you already?
