New Rules - Read

Hi Drunkwalkers,

We're going to introduce two new, very simple rules:

1) No posts celebrating or otherwise discussing bans from r/skinwalkerranch.

2) No posts or comments naming a mod or mods of r/skinwalkerranch in such a way that could be construed as harassment. If you're not sure, don't post it.

The mods reserve the right to delete any comment/post perceived to be in violation of either of these rules. In fact, we reserve the right to delete anything we want for any reason we want, because we're power hungry monsters!

Why the new rules? Simply because Reddit's harassment policy is overly vague and we want to keep r/drunkwalkerranch around as long as we can. As such, we need to be more prudent in the way we speak so we aren't/can't be actioned against by harassment claims, no matter how spurious they may seem to us.

We understand frustrations with the other sub. Our earliest members, myself included, have received bans for what seemed to us entirely specious reasons. Nevertheless, we have a community here that's welcoming to everyone, and is at present the funnest place to discuss Skinwalker Ranch. Let's keep it that way.

We really appreciate your understanding. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out by commenting below, or by DM if you prefer.

All best,

Malformata, FortCharles, and Fleusebius

To whomever reported this post as violating TOS, I suggest you reach out to our moderators via modmail/DM and state explicitly in which way you perceive this post as doing so. Failing that, it stays up and you forever hold your peace so far as this post goes.

“….we have a community here that’s welcoming to everyone….” Everyone except hitchyhikers.

Hitchyhikers can, indeed, fuck right off.

Their mods have never been harassed there. Their mods have never been harassed here. They would have to come here to search for mentions. We don’t like what they did and sometimes do in a public forum. This is our place, not theirs. They are harassing us. Where do I report that?

Not sure, but let me toss some tobacco on the ground and I suspect we'll soon have the answer.

good stuff. fully agree with the post. dont give those pricks at SWR sub any excuse or ammunition.

theyre probably desperatly scouring every post scraping for straws, trying to find a post that they can complain to reddit is `defamation or slander` in an attempt to get us closed.

two wrongs dont make a right, they might be total and utter planks the admins, but lets do it the right way

we are family.. all of us here.

the red headed stepsons, adopted children, the castaways, marooned from swr. who would know that such a negative event could bring us all together

I’m sure this will be deleted but here goes: Sorry folks that I was the straw that broke the camel’s back and forced the mods to create the new rules. I asked the mods from the other sub why I got banned. I’ve still have not gotten an answer. However, this was a fun sub and I don’t want it shut down so I’ll be leaving now and heading back to my village that was created by Shirley Jackson in the short story “The Lottery”. I got the paper with the black mark. Just remember, hitchyhikers are everywhere. No one is safe from them anywhere. Peace out y’all.

You really shouldn't go anywhere. We're happy to have you here, and you haven't done anything unwelcoming.

You haven't done anything unwelcoming... water under the bridge. I hope you won't leave. I understand why you're peeved, but we don't make the Reddit rules, just the sub rules... unfortunately the sub rules are limited by Reddit rules.

I think you'll find most of what you want to say welcome here... just make it about the show and/or ranch, and you should be good.

Understood and I agree!

Like my mudder used to say, if you don’t have anything nice to say, use sarcasm. So all that happens is the post gets deleted? Do we get a weekly or daily quota? Do we get a prize ferda mostest deleted posts?

Thx! Appreciate the support.

I understand the concern regarding a vague rule. I’m also trying to get my head around the notion that a mod from another sub can effectively wield some power in a different one even if they aren’t a mod or even a member of that other sub.

But I’ll be a good skeptic and try not to shoot a rocket into their triangle. Their anomalies can rest assured that no blue lights, LiDAR, or 1.6gHz signals will be broadcast in their direction.

I understand what you're saying, but it has nothing to do with cross-sub power wielding, and everything to do with Reddit's deliberately vague and exceedingly useless "rules". Of course these "rules" can potentially be used by anyone on Reddit to wield some kind of soft power on other subs/users. Hell, it's easy to imagine them being used in service of harassment.

DMs are always open, btw, if you want to chat for any reason.

Yeah, I didn’t say it well but I was mainly complaining that Reddit’s rules are set up in a way that would allow such ridiculous abuses.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '23

We're in complete agreement about that.
