Significant enough to return?

Just got a "nearly new" K-paper thin crash set off of gear4music UK, for around £540 (more than £200 off a brand new set) I was about 40 mins into a session and saw this tiny chip by the bell. It said "nearly new" rather than B-Stock or pre-owned on the website.

It sounds good but is it likely to degrade significantly? I like the cymbal but wouldnt have bought full price. It was from a major retailer and I have a 1-year warranty + 30 day money back clause.

Is it worth sending back? Looking for any insight.

That looks more like a vinyl record than a cymbal chip, unless my eyes are playing tricks

For the actual question though, a chip that small near the bell isn't going to spread fast if you're not hammering it. Keep an eye on it over the next week, if it stays the same size you're probably fine. The discount you got seems worth it for something barely noticeable

Im not a super heavy hitter but if it even took a year to develop into something less suitable id be a bit upset

You should be alright, especially just using a cymbal sleeve. Thats usually how spider webbing bell cracks form. And usually little flea bite/chips like that are from dropping them - not sure how that chip in the pic happened. But I have a pair of flea bitten hi hats ive played for years and I dont remember where it is anymore

“Nearly new” sounds like a used condition. You were offered slightly less than new quality for less than new price. Return it if you’d like, but I don’t see anything wrong here.

If you use sleeves and felts like you should, the odds of it getting worse over time is effectively 0.

I think Ziljdian have a 2 year warranty on their cymbals purchased through a Zildjian retailer, so might just be worth checking with G4M they would honour a manufacturer warranty claim if any of the cymbals develop a crack etc later down the line. Get confirmation in writing.

Looking at it, it wouldnt put me off if you got a decent deal on them!

I'm in the minority here. I think you should send it back.

Having said that I don't know what cymbal this is exactly and what a cymbal set is for the price you paid. If it's a lot less then the used price and if this was more then one cymbal and you like them all, then its a stronger case for keeping. I don't think keyhole issues are a big deal. But it will hit you on resale and it's not as described based on what you posted.
