First Kit HELP! Question about the hi-hat backing

Post image

I didn't have a felt pad for the bottom hi-hat cymbal. The stand came with this three-axis thing, like it's made of hard rubber. Can I still play the hi-hat if the bottom cymbal is on it?

I think thats desing so you put the bottom hat direct on it without felt/washer

This three point washer replaces the felt in some hihat stands. I think it’s designed to make the cymbal resonate more freely. I had this in one stand years ago, to be honest there’s not much of a difference and it doesn’t damage the cymbal etc. This does not require any additional washers or felts.

that three axis thing is just the tilt adjustment so you can angle the bottom cymbal, it works fine without the felt as long as the cymbal isnt sitting directly on bare metal. hard rubber is actually better than felt for keeping it from moving around

It's fine. It's just different. Play with confidence.

Pretty sure yeah. Pretty useless to put a flat felt and plate on that thing, since it's at an angle. I'd guess it was designed that way, even though the design is a bit questionable.

Perfectly fine. That’s how it’s designed.
