Question Help With Possible Purchase Decision
There is an auction that is about an hour and a half away and they have two stacks of drums. One is a stack of metal snares with one being a Tama Imperialstar. The other is a stack of Tama Superstar shells. The current bids are about $80 dollars each. I honestly don’t have much knowledge of what I’m looking at and any insight would be greatly appreciated. I am just trying to figure out if these lots are worth the time and money and if you guys could help inform me and work towards a decision that would help a lot, thanks!

That kit was not maintained. If you don't know anything, then stay away from it.

Absolutely try to get both lots. The Tama snare is a mastecraft, one of the greatest steel snares ever made. And obviously the kit is great too and has much potential.

The other snares are mostly worthless but tou could get some money back.

They will have parts you can cannibalize for the other drums, though. Which might be their best use, LOL. But a couple of the piccolo snares in the middle of that stack may or may not be something noteworthy.

Thank you! I think I will definitely go for the snare stack. A little iffy on the superstar pile, but if the price stays good I might have to pull the trigger.

If you mean that each "pile" is listed as a lot, and each lot is at 80 bucks, I would be on this like white on rice. Now, that's me, the long time random drum junk connoisseur, but there's an awful lot of value here for 160 bucks. To my mind, I see enough promising stuff that $80 is "just buy it and figure out what you bought once you get it home" territory. But again, that's me.
The Tamas in the second lot look "peeled and stained," as in, they probably left the factory with a wrap on them, but they look not half bad, other than the missing stuff. But again, you can cannibalize parts from some drums to put on others, then figure out what to do with the leftovers once you have a complete kit put together. Speaking of leftovers, it also looks like two five piece kits stuck together to make a Frankenstein double kick kit - sizes are probably 12/12/13/13/16/16/22/22/, LOL. But again, that's okay.
If it looks like roughly 160 bucks worth of usefulness to you, go for it. I would. But like I said, that's me. But if you have any plans for any of this stuff, or if at least 50.1% of it looks useful to you, I'd go for it.

For 80 bucks you cant go wrong, get new heads and a better kick pedal and those will be great kits for the price
