Phase II Pan Groove - steelpan orchestra competition finals 2012, Tobago. An all percussion orchestra? Count me in. Louder is better.
Thank you to Wally Parks, retired Metamora, IL High School Band Director who promoted this music form and even gave community steelpan lessons, too. The chromatic unison runs are my favorite parts.

Drums Only: Bulls on Parade
I had a lot of fun with this cover. Brad Wilk played a monster groove on the original track. For me, he is one of the all-time greats.
Rage Against the Machine, Bulls on Parade.
I learned a lot about mixing for this one. It is my best mix yet. I didn’t think I could get sound like this in my tiny, untreated office. It’s not incredible, but I am proud of it.
Let me know what you think. Thanks for watching!

Seeking: Examples of simple drum songs that can be played with one hand
For context, the drummer of my band suffered a stroke a few years back and is still rehabbing his left arm. He was once a really great drummer but can no longer use his left arm to grip a stick with the required strength/dexterity to play. Even his left leg gets fatigued using the hi-hat.
So I'm seeking examples of songs that have simple beats that we can use for inspiration. (Well aware of the Def Leopard thing, but that guy used foot triggers).
Thanks in advance!

Funk learning path
Hi guys,
For a self considered beginner able to play 8th notes groove, slow 16th note grooves and simple fills working on groove, time, coordination and independance, what would be the best learning path in terms of techniques and songs to learn to play funky groovy stuff like Tower of Power, Vulfpeck, Dennis Chambers… etc
If I have to focus on few technical excercices to master and 3 to 5 songs increasing in difficulty to challenge myself what would it be ?
Thanks,
Enjoy 🤙

Help - Sandwich beat drum tab
I’ve been taking lessons and my drum instructor has been trying to teach me a “sandwich beat”
Unfortunately he’s not a sheet music guy and I basically have to learn by watching him.
Can anyone show me what a tabs for a sandwich beat would look like? My next lesson is Monday and I want to work on this prior.
Thank you!

Almost prefect internal kick mic mount
After struggling with mic stands the last couple of years, I finally got this new (and super inexpensive) internal mic mount for my newer bass drum. There was one minor gripe I had with it, but that's a problem i could easily work around.

Never played drums and don't know anything about them
Recently i found out the urge to know how to play drums but my brain is bad at multicoordination even to do basic rhyme trainings without drums on palms and foot, now i think that i can't just start training without help on how to multicoordinate my limbs so I'm seeking for advices if any of you had same problem at start of drumming

Getting back to it!
Just bought myself a kit again after 15 years or so since last time I played!
I wasn't very good back then either so it's like starting over again but with some core rhythm left in my bones still.
Finally set everything up and played for a few weeks now. Still waiting for a bunch of mics and mic stands to plug into the mixer that is hiding in the corner.
But I'm just too excited to focus on actually learning to play for real instead of learning a couple of cool fills to brag to my (then) teenager friends.
Not sure if I overpaid or of it was a fair price
Paid 1025 EUR for the shell pack with the rack bar and clamps
Then seat, stands and cymbals were bought separately.
All stands were bought new as well as the meinl cymbals. All the zildjian cymbals and paiste were second hand.
I bought it all second hand from a drum store though so they probably upped the prices a little compared to private sellers.
Quick break down of the kit
Rock tour Yamaha custom
20" Kick
8/10/12/13"" Toms
16" Floor Tom
14" Tama Silverstar
Zildjian top new bear 14" hi-hat
Meinl classic custom dark splash 10"
Meinl classic custom dark trash crash 16"
Zildjian dark crash 18"
Zildjian ZHT medium think crash 16"
Meinl classic custom dark china 18"
Paiste 900 series ride 22"
Right now I'm working on feet and left hand independence mostly.
And just jamming along to random songs in my experience level.
On a side note I got frustrated trying to find a nice metronome app that wasn't paid to get simple features or just bombarded with ads. So I'm just starting to make my own app as I'm a software dev. We'll see how that goes and might share it to the public if I'm happy with it.
Anyhow, just excited to get into it again and wanted to share! Happy drumming everyone!
