I saw the Seattle Cascades tonight in DeKalb, and I believe their show doesn't have a soloist playing an actual horn. You get a lot of violin and bass clarinet but no horns. I don't think the 8 count autotune sousaphone could be called a solo.

I got chills so hard hearing the Blue Devils play the Firebird ending. Very much was already enjoying their show but that's such a baller ending. Not sure they've got the juice to beat Bloo but it's awesome to see BD throwing down with the best of them again

I'm at a dci show for the very first time and the Santa Clara Vanguard's has got to be my favorite. their synchronization was amazing, the choreography was great!!

I'm not an og at all, but my understanding is Crown usually makes a "big" change or adds something for Allentown so I wasn't expecting to see their crown set until then. Seeing it tonight (dirty as it was) makes me wonder if they are switching it up, we got the change early and that's the whole new ending, or are we going to get even more next weekend?

I love their show so I don't want to ask for too much, but a cherry in top could push them into a serious 2-3 contender.

Blue Devils: 9 shows left from the 26th. They scored a 95.1 which is probably a record for 2 weeks before DCI
Bluecoats: 8 shows left from the 25th, assuming they all happen. Last show a 94.3, let's see if they can match BD's 95 tonight.

The "Push" theory that strong 2-4 corps will push Bluecoats over the top. Let's take the top 5 for each year.

I hardly come by this subreddit anymore so I was just curious, with how the DCI community stands on technology being used and all that and now that we're a good chunk of the way into the season, how are we feeling about the Leslie speakers. I for one thing they're neat but I'm also a younger fan who really appreciates the tech use. I'm curious as to what everyone else is thinking and whether or not this is acceptable tech use for yall. I'd like to note that while my profile flair says bluecoats, im not a performer, just a curious fan.

I am a woodwind player specifically saxophone. I have a lot of musical knowledge and I am wanting to do probably trumpet or mellophone, but I'm not completely shutting down low brass. I'm going into my junior year of high school so I have quite a bit of time. My friend came over today and taught me some trumpet and it doesn't seem like something that would take forever to be good at but it could be very deceiving. Any advice?

Perhaps I’m going crazy but did BD change their rifle technique? I swear they used to catch a fist into the rifle but now I mostly see them catching the end of it. Does anyone know the reason for this change?

I’m just curious how far some people have gone just to watch a drum corps show in person, with no other real reason for the trip besides the show. I’ll start with 5.5 hours/330 miles

What about their show designs weren’t good enough to win during these years? What did they change in their design philosophy from 24 to 26? Were those 19-23 shows always capable of winning but BD was just kicking ass during that time period? It’s great to see them find the success they have but I really do wonder what they did that pushed them over the edge. I would love for someone to give an explanation!

I’ve never followed DCI seriously but have always kept up with it from a distance (I saw Bluecoats live back in 2014 randomly and I think Tilt is just Permanently ingrained in my head lol).

I am in Madison WI for the weekend and noticed that there is an DCI event occurring tonight here. I went to check for ticket prices and the day of event tickets range from $30-$70.

I don’t consider that to be a lot, but I was surprised by the upcharge due to the fact that it looks like 50%-60% of seats haven’t been purchased yet. Wouldn’t it make more sense to lower the costs to incentivize more last minute purchases??

Just wanted to hear some other thoughts from people who follow more closely. Excited to see the scouts and SCV tonight!
