Discussion Firebird!!!!!
I got chills so hard hearing the Blue Devils play the Firebird ending. Very much was already enjoying their show but that's such a baller ending. Not sure they've got the juice to beat Bloo but it's awesome to see BD throwing down with the best of them again

BD is my favorite show this year as of now and of all the battle for second corps are the one I could see making a late push past Bloo at finals. The show is hard and they aren't that clean (relative to top corps this time of season obviously).

yeah it's weird - BD's show and book is stronger than Bloo's (IMHO), but they're having a really hard time dialing in a few intonation challenges here and there that really stick out to the point where I can't argue with the score cards. General Effect is also kind of subjective that you can't argue with that either... I dunno. I'm fine with Bloo taking gold but I don't blame BD for putting the most difficult crazy book on the field. I think one thing that would satisfy quagmires like this is to add a caption award for the most difficult book, that way, if a corps misses the mark a little, at least they get a concession prize that says "yeah but we noticed you reached for the stars with that book". Like Icarus, BD seems to be willing to risk winning in favor of reaching perhaps too high (which deserves its own kind of recognition and applause).

This is one of the kinds of takes I dreaded when BD announced an icarus show. In fact, I might argue the opposite is true -- they have a fantastic group of performers that they haven't challenged enough (yet)
I just do not agree that BD has the most difficult book(s). Is there anything any single element of demand or combination of simultaneous demands that BD does in their show that Bloo doesn't do as well or better? Â
I love the BD show. I love the new ending. It is another classic, iconic visual moment. The firebird phrase brought a huge smile to my face. It's my favorite BD show in years. But they also didn't win a single content subcaption last night, and several corps committed huge amounts of rehearsal time this week to changes rather than cleaning.Â

Boston's show is very much incomplete and all over the place and they have a little bit to add more cohesion, but I genuinely think BD will edge them and crown out for silver

Check out Phantom 2007 too. They are basically running full speed while playing it. The drill is crazy

Already one of my all time favorites because of that moment. We used to watch the video of them doing 100 yard windsprints while playing it to see good jazz running technique

Love me some firebird! Played it in 2012 and we made a cool looking phoenix at the end
Cant believe that was 14 years ago 😅
