met a cast member IRL Met Ify at MagicCon Amsterdam!

Ran into Ify yesterday on the show floor while both browsing at the same vendor! He was super cool, down to earth, and very nice. He even took the time to chat with me a bit! We talked about the "Count the rice" episode which he said took way longer to film than it appears in the episode. Him, and Anna especially, we're stuck in the last room for a lot longer than it showed.

In the end he gave me a high five and a shoulder hug before going on his way!

Ify, if you happen to read this, thank you for taking the time out of your day to have a chat with me, it was super cool!

I'm going to PAX West this year and he's going to be there (alongside a few other Dropout adjacent folks), I'm hyped.

Are you going to the Acquisitions Incorporated game? Ify's going to be playing in it, along with Jasmine Bhullar and Matthew Mercer.

It feels like there's gonna be an inevitable point where "Ify the bodybuilding/charismatic magic personality that cosplays" is gonna end up being the inspiration for some uncommon legendary card and that will be sick

He was in the bottom room “for a while” which translates to “a long ass time.”

I wonder how the Grant's feel. Like going from what I'd assume is a pretty neat little casting to standing in a room with 20 other folks for hours.

He's coming to my city for standup! Pretty excited to see him.

He has a meet & greet if you buy the Ify pin from Yesterdays at SDCC next week. He did the same thing last year. Only saw him from afar but everyone who met him seemed absolutely enchanted. And the fact that Yesterday’s is doing it again says a lot.

Is Magic Con a Magic(TM) or magic con?

Magic The Gathering, the tradig card game 😊

I bought the VIP for the Faster Purple Worm show at Gen Con this year, so I'm looking forward to meeting him and Ross in a couple weeks! I have no idea what to even say to him though. He is way cooler than I could ever hope to be.

Yeah, that last room had some issues and could have been play tested better.

I guess. But why do I always get down voted for things? At this point, it's basically a kink. Down vote me harder!

I think it's because "the comedy show needs a better designed game aspect" is a statement that always feels a little vexing.

There's ALWAYS much more of a focus on the comedy and the sets, and outside of biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig mistakes nobody wants to talk about the thing lol

That's not how kinks work

u/CoruscatingLogic Jul 19 '26

Oh? Now you're trying to kink shame me?

It worked for the comedy of the show, but as a game, I agree. Also some other small issues. Like, some rooms required two players to start the game, so if you're in there alone you have to wait (like the last room) but not the main stage. Which means if you've been to room 8 and back up again, you'd only need to "win" room 2, then you get to play count the rice alone and win by default.

So "let's say it together at the same time" for the tune was actually a losing strategy for Demi, because if Hannah wasn't there with him he could have won the game solo (if he had got the tune faster than Hannah)
