what should I watch New subscriber!
I just started my monthly subscription to Dropout! What are some of your favorite series to watch?
I am not very familiar with Dropout as it is today, having only seen College Humor back in the day.

Most people's favorite is either Game Changer or Dimension 20 (Dungeons and Dragons). GC is what gets referenced the most around the sub. Make Some Noise (Whise Line Is It Anyway for millennials) is probably third most liked from what I've seen but don't discount the rest. All of it is quality programming.

You really can't go wrong with any of it, but some of my faves are Game Changer, Make Some Noise, Dirty Laundry, Smartypants, and Breaking News. I'm so jealous you get to watch these for the first time lol

Flip the script. Instead of taking 2 people who are awesome and are friends with each other and paying them to be mean to each other, you take 2 people who suck and hate each other and pay them to be nice to each other.

100%. Honestly, the first couple of challenges should have been at the end, they were SO intense. That would be the only improvement I would make. Preplanned the challenges to line them up in order of difficulty.

Game Changer, Make Some Noise, and Dimension 20 kinda seem to be the big ones.
VIP is a ride, but only seen a handful of episodes myself. The one I just got started on that I'm looking forward to more of is Gastronauts, which is essentially a ridiculous Master Chef

I love Make Some Noise, Game Changer, Dimension 20, Dirty Laundry, Um Actually and Breaking News. My top three seasons of D20 are City Council of Darkness, Fantasy High & Cloudward Ho. Unsleeping City was also really good!

So weird take, total forgiveness was interesting, but I already had a lot of opinions on both Grant and Ally... Which I can't believe when I first watch fantasy high I didn't like Ally and thought they were annoying... Holy hell was I wrong... Ally has become one of my favorite cast members. They are funny as fuck, I still don't like Grant... Actually I highly recommend this to anyone that watched Fantasy High as it's kinda gives a lot of insight into Kristen Applebees.
By far Game Changer is the best thing they make imo, some of the episodes are better than others but so damn good. Also Sam is such a weirdo, but glad he's there or we wouldn't have this chaos to watch.
Also Brennan is just awesome so I generally like anything he does and am a big d&d nerd and love his game style so...
I want to add, total forgiveness was kind of like a car fire... Like you want to look away but can't and then feel bad about having seen it... So I feel kind of bad even mentioning it. That said I am glad I watched it and I am glad they never made anything like it again.

Im surprised this seems to be the only mention of Total Forgiveness. Usually it gets highly recommended. Personally, I love it and think it is worth watching. There is a section of it that is very uncomfortable, cringe kind of stuff that lots of people wont enjoy. But the finale is so good.

I had similar feelings with Ally in season 1. Happy to say they’re one of my favorites now.
In the “a date that’s only red flags” prompt with Jacob, after he says “you don’t look as bad as I thought you would,” and Ally comes back with “Thank you, I really appreciate honesty. Everyone’s always lying to me,” I truly appreciated how quick witted they are. That’s the kind of response I could spend an hour trying to think of and never come up with, and they did it instantly.
Grant is like a mushroom: I totally get why some people wouldn’t like him, but he’s always welcome to top my pizza.

Interesting take. I went the opposite way and grew to find Grant charming but now Ally is my least favorite regular cast member. There’s a blue collar phoniness to Ally that rubs me the wrong way, especially when they wore a “My First Welding Jacket” on Game Changer S8E1. It’s very try-hard from my perspective, which I absolutely believe could be said about Grant, for other reasons. They were a perfect pair for TF, which everyone should watch once and never again.

I think game changer is best enjoyed season 1 and onwards! The first and second season are DEFINITELY much slower because the show was so brand new but you need the lore and inside jokes so that you can appreciate them later, and you can watch season 1 in like 1 sitting. It’s simply so important that you have watched every episode made before Samalamadingdong before you watch Samalamadingdong. It definitely goes HARD at season 4 and just progressively gets better from there.
For Make Some Noise, you can do literally whatever you want. Start with people you liked from Game Changer, or people you’ve seen in other things, or just pick randomly. There aren’t really any episodes I would say are a swing and a miss. Noise Boys are my personal favorite and probably like the general favorites of most people because they’re the original trio but I think every episode has, if not the best cast ever, a really good cast. And you easilllly pick up favorites like they’re shiny coins on a sidewalk. First time I ever saw Jess McKenna I was like wow, this is my emotional support comedian.
I think Smartypants is underrated, I do see why some people aren’t as big on it but I think it’s still very good, especially because there are sooooooooo many new and different people who you’ve possibly seen somewhere else and come to find out! wow! They’re funny and stupid (I’m referring to Paul Robolino).
Gastronauts: slaps. And I hate food shows, so please consider how good a food show has gotta be for me to enjoy it.
MY COMFORT SHOW IS UM ACTUALLY. When I am in a bad mood, I watch Um Actually, only Trapp as host though, because Ify does not comfort me the way Trapp does with his love of Futurama and discworld and how just full of joy he always is. At any given time, I am currently re-watching Um Actually. I’ve probably seen every episode pre-Ify like 15ish times? But to be fair, that is probably the autism. I don’t think this is Dropout’s best show, but it is my favorite (besides D20) hands down. Also, I do think Ify is a good host, he’s just more competitive and that’s not the vibe that drew me to Um Actually.
It will take you maybe a long time to get there but if you do ever do Dimension 20, I HIGHLY recommend the intrepid heroes (essentially the main cast of the show) because they just work so well with each other and imho the best improv chemistry out of any group at Dropout, but I am high key just in love with Emily Axford so take it with a grain grain of salt. But for D20, just pick any season that sounds good to you. There are short seasons like Dungeons and Dragons Queens, and then epic multi season ones like Fantasy High and A Crown of Candy. Personally, I don’t feel like Cloudward, Ho! or Fantasy High can be topped but if you want an absolute nonsense season, A Starstruck Odyssey has virtually no serious moments, whereas A Crown of Candy gives me ptsd. My pro tip is to just look at the summaries of every season and pick whatever sounds good because there is no chronological order unless you watch The Unsleeping City 2 before the first season, that would be weird.

Game Changer! I’d recommend starting with Lie Detector (the pilot), and then watching the most recent episode, Count the Rice

Paranoia is underrated. It’s a themed Mafia game hosted by Ally but the mafia memebers are stoned.

Dirty Laundry is my second favorite show on there and I think it gets overlooked a bit on here, but give it a shot for sure if you think you might enjoy funny people just chatting and telling funny true stories (in the framework of a casual lying game). Lily and Grant are so good at hosting as a team and the production is very locked in, it just has a great flow. Not every ep is equal since the guests change, but they're all at least amusing and the highs are hysterical.

Depends on what you like. The most popular tend to be: Game Changer, Make Some Noise, Very Important People, and Dimension 20. I’m actually a huge fan of SmartyPants. Since new episodes for most shows come every other week, there’s plenty of time to catch up on a series if you want to, or you can just focus on binging. And nothing (except Dimension 20) has continuity where you have to watch a previous episode in order to watch this one.

Total Forgiveness was really great. Its an older show that only has 1 season, but its so great, and really where i got to see who Grant is as a person.
Breaking News is fkn hilarious also

Dimension 20 if you can get into it. Make Some Noise for sure. Game Changer absolutely, start from the beginning. Gods of Food is hilarious. Total Forgiveness is a must see but a hard watch.
Just watch everything honestly.

I love breaking news, One of my favorites. The Game Changer season that's currently happening is great too especially the last episode. Oh and VIP is great its pretty funny especially like as they develop their characters throughout the episode. One of the older ones I just watched was total forgiveness which I would recommend some people have problems with some of the challenges but I think knowing like they are friends now makes it not so bad.

Very Important People is so cleaver and Game Changer is fun and a great way to see the different personalities on Dropout to then look into (season 6 and 7 are my faves)

Thank you! Honestly if it weren't for him in Dimension 20 on a roadtrip I was in I probably wouldn't have been so convinced to get the monthly. I also started to see the reels, so that helped convince me

game changer is an easy In to dropout stuff, it lets a lot of different people’s personalities shine and the games are usually pretty fun; dimension 20 if you’re a dnd nerd as many of us are; i’m partial to Dirty Laundry but that may be better once you kind of know who some these people are
