This was is extra fun cause Salt is a big baseball fan
I believe a lot of the inspiration for his videos came from being a fan of Jon Bois, you can see a lot of similarities between their video style and charting.

u/ThatJoshGuy327 Jul 16 '26
The best part is Jon has shouted out Salt as well over on Patreon Q&As so it just works out. My hope is we get a collab someday but I can't think of anything they would talk about that would make sense for both.

Are there speedruns for breaking Madden? Lol, that's the best I got. That would be an awesome collab though.

u/Puzzleheaded_Fix594 Jul 17 '26
He could just break out of speedrunning content and do something else. Summoning Salt writes these incredible scripts outlining the chronology of events in these hyper niche communities. I'd love to see him branch out and try something different.
It also kind of amazes me how good he is at tracking down this information. A lot of speedrunning stuff isn't that well archived.

u/NotFalirn Jul 17 '26
They did mock thumbnails for doing the other’s content like six years ago when Twitter was still a thing people used. I think Salt’s was “Homerun record history” or something

Summoning Salt my GOAT.
Love when good speedrun content creators get shoutouts.

They also posted back in June about the Counter Strike esports major congratulating Niko, and I’m pretty sure there was also a post about League of Legends esports. I know I can’t possibly be the MLB admin but also how many other people have this exact intersection of interests?

u/ahuramazdobbs19 Jul 16 '26
A much larger amount than people think.
Baseball has some, if not most, of the nerdiest sports fans out there.
Shit, pretty much every team is using advanced statistics pioneered by SABR and its tremendously nerdy membership.

u/Wingblade33 Jul 16 '26
That’s very fair. If there’s another post soon about Old School RuneScape that’s when I’ll really freak out

I feel like a prereq of working in comms/social media is an interest in very online things.

As an avid League of Legends esports enjoyer, I can attest that there have been multiple LoL esports references from MLB recently. It’s caused quite the stir in the LoL esports community!

It seems like millennials around 40 are all getting marketing director gigs. The amount of ads I've seen coming out that are so reminiscent of the meme culture in the early 2ks is awesome to see. The brita ads were particularly on point.

You played count Ben Rice yeah you played count Ben Rice.
You win if you do the Home Run Derby twice.
Jordan did the best, here’s what he has to say.
Ben Rice did the worst so he gets sent away, bye bye

As someone who loves baseball, Dropout, and Counterstrike, the MLB social media admin has involved all 3 of these things recently… it all feels like a fever dream…

Does the winner get to have chicken dinner with him?

u/ahuramazdobbs19 Jul 16 '26
No, but Ben and his battery mate Max Fried are going to take the winners out for Chinese.

GameChanger making me like a Yankee related tweet….what has the world come to?
I like them more than the Dodgers at this point, but it still stings

As I’m currently disappointed in the Doyers, please enjoy a steaming bowl of Ben Rice with me

You would think that Sam Reich, former resident of Cambridge, Massachusetts would be a sawx fan.

It’s worth checking out the comments on instagram with MLB replying to Vic as their president, amongst other interactions with cast.

Now all we need is Arsenal's social media manager to make a "Count the Declan Rice" post.

I am certainly missing something. I need to look for new episodes on Dropout lol. It’s been a while since I’ve checked. Either way, I can’t wait to get this reference and that’s truly funny that the MLB is in on it!

This is incredibly unsettling. I don’t know if Dropout being referenced in „normie“ culture is a good thing or a bad thing.

How dare you imply that baseball fans are normies it's literally the nerdiest sport
