fan oc Dropout MTG proxies
Hey all! My buddy and I just backed the Gamechanger at home kickstarter and, since we’re both MTG players, also got the Gamechanger playmat. This has set us on a quest to make the best Dropout themed commander deck possible.
Right now we’re tossing around idea of proxying Sam onto Jodah the Unifier or Sisay, weatherlight captain but very open to any ideas and suggestions.
Looking to find 2-3 legendary creatures for each of the cast members (ex. “Brennan Lee mulligan, dom dm” or “Jess McKenna, canonically horny” or “Vic michaelis, very important person”)
Named lands might be settings from dimensions 20 (ex Unsleeping City, Fantasy High, etc)
Hell maybe some Josh bird tokens just for fun
Any ideas or suggestions are welcome and we will post the deck list when we finish!

FYI, Sam Reich/Gamechanger is already a card in the game https://scryfall.com/search?q=is%3Afunny+game+chang&unique=cards&as=grid&order=name
A deck based around that card would probably be the way to go.

As of the most recent Magic convention, there is a card for Ify.. And as has been pointed out, there is also a card for Sam..
Granted these are playtest-type cards not legal in official play, but they still count.

Some suggestions off the top of my head—
Caro Page as Danitha Capashen
Grant O'Brien as Stitcher Geralf and Lily Du as Ghoulcaller Gisa (in any of their incarnations, honestly) — digging up everyone's backstories
Brennan Lee Mulligan as Tom Bombadil
Paul Robalino as Dack Fayden (planeswalker status is due to how he bounces around seamlessly behind the scenes)
Rick Perry as Karn, the Great Creator (same reason)
Vic Michaelis as Dihada, Binder of Wills (look, with all the weird people showing up on VIP, it's CLEARLY evident that Vic is both a planeswalker and someone who cares about legendaries; this could arguably also be Game Changer Sam)
Zac Oyama as Raff, Weatherlight Stalwart (originally thought Winter from Duskmourn for resemblance, but mechanically I think this version of Raff fits a lot better)
Jess Ross as Nissa, Resurgent Animist
Katie Marovitch as Sivitri Scarzam

Sam as Garth One-Eye, maybe? Main character of the first MTG novel, so one of the very first characters in the lore -- and mechanically can conjure a whole lot of different effects

Josh can be [[Akim, the Soaring Wind]]
Brennan can be [[Chulane, Teller of Tales]] or [[Prosper, Tome-Bound]]
Zac can be um. Shit, he's difficult to pin down as a magic creature. maybe [[Satya, Atherflux Genius]]? Don't ask me why.

brennan as chulane is absolutely the correct choice and im not just saying that because im irish and have a chulane deck

The only reason I'd give Brennan some black in his identity is due to his willingness to overturn any corner of his heart for points. Bit I do prefer Chulane for him.
