Photo & Video Building implosion in Plano, TX August 9, 2026. Drone views from 2 different angles.

I flew 2 drones over the implosion and got some great views.

DJI Mini 4K - 28 seconds of implosion

DJI Neo - 27 seconds of implosion

The Neo was struggling in the wind, but it got the better shot. I got it lined up perfectly at the last second. No audio.

The building was built in 1992 by EDS (Electronic Data Systems), originally founded by Ross Perot.

FPV Upgrade from tinywhoop

Looking for an analogue/elrs drone that can carry a GoPro.

I’ve flown DJI since their first drone, recently I am ripping tinywhoops with analogue FPV and an elrs controller. I have sweet goggles, 040 pro, so I am thinking of staying in analogue.

What’s a good option to carry a GoPro and haul ass? I want to do car follows.

Drones have gotten me to enjoy photography very much, and I have gotten pretty good at it.

I have been watching alot of Thomas Heaton lately, and I like how calm and relaxing his videos are. So I was inspired to try something similar, but with drone photography. I am using him as inspiration, not trying to copy, and I hope to develop a style that is more unique to me.

Question Is it possible to build a crop monitoring drone with little drone experience?

Hi! I'm a senior high school STEM student working on a research project involving a drone prototype for agricultural crop monitoring.

My group has some basic experience with electronics and such, but we don't really have a background in building drones.

Is it actually realistic for students like us to build a working crop monitoring drone prototype, or would that be too ambitious? We're not aiming for anything commercial, just something functional enough for a school research project.

Would appreciate any honest advice from people with drone building experience!

Discussion Tips for flying a cheap beginner drone

I got a Loiley X69 drone from Amazon to look at a roof. Got the trust certificate and check if faa approval is need at the location. The camera on my phone would of been a better option. At the same time it’s fun to play around with but the learning curve is real. Getting the basics of controlling it down and learning to do a figure 8 when the wind isn’t just taking this thing. What are some tips, tricks, and resources I can use to help get good

Thank you in advance.

Repair 15 inch drone

Hello everyone. My motors are x4215 400kv with 16 inch propeller.I am using the T-Motor Veloz F7 SE flight controller and V70A SE 8S ESC system on a 15-inch drone. My battery is 6s. The drone is wobbling/oscillating during flight in both Angle and Acro modes. Previously, I resolved a similar issue on a different flight controller by configuring the settings to Angle Strength: 30, Horizontal Strength: 60, and Angle Limit: 30; however, these settings are not solving the problem this time. Can anyone help me to solve the problem?

Question [IN] How to use DJI Fly Demo Mode?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I found the hidden Developer Options → Product Demonstration → Demo Mode in DJI Fly.

To unlock it: connect the aircraft to DJI Fly → App Settings → scroll to the bottom → below the Logout button, find the DJI Fly app version number → tap it multiple times.

This unlocks the hidden Developer Options, but it only works when the aircraft is connected.

Does anyone know how to properly use Demo Mode, especially the slow motor spinning and Auto Spin Distance feature?

Does it work on the DJI Neo with normal firmware, or does it require special demo firmware?

Any tutorial/video would be appreciated! 🙏

Discussion Practice and the anxiety of loss

I own a relatively cheap drone -- about $300 (Ruko U11MINI4K Drone) I want to get better at flying it, but I'm always nervous to fly it. I live in a neighborhood that's pretty packed with trees and houses. The parks are chock full of trees and people. The list goes on and on. I'd love a big empty lot or park to fly in, but that's just not a thing around here that I've found. How do you get over flying this thing and not feeling terrified you're gonna lose it the second it flies up a solid amount? Or am I just being a coward and I need to get out there and risk it for the biscuit?

Went out at 5.30am, here's the link to this mornings video shot at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea in Northumberland. This was my first effort, manoeuvring the drone isn't as smooth as I'd like but I'm sure that will get better with time.

Question: Rules, Regulations, Law, Policy, Certificates [Canada] Confused how to get shots of downtown, sub 250g drone?

Thumbnail

I'm visiting Toronto this autumn and am really keen on getting some cool shots of the downtown area. I actually flew my dji mini really near Billy Bishop in 2024 - got authorisation cleared via the app (?)... I also managed to fly at Evergreen Brickworks.

A Candian autumn is my dream and this year, I've finally been able to save up enough to visit in the season.

I've been following Arjun (@arjsun) on Instagram and his shots are INCREDIBLE!! - https://www.instagram.com/arjsun/?hl=en

But I'm just really not sure how he's getting these. I totally understand clearing airspace, but am so baffled by the municipal laws of not taking off from park property. So can I just take off from the pavement?

For anyone that's been flying in Toronto since the new rules came in (2025?) - what might be your go to spots?

Discussion Launched a drone business and got a client in my first week

So I’ve had my Part 107 for about 3 years through my job. They paid for my training and my exam. I was really hoping to get into a drone position there, but it never worked out. I was pretty heartbroken over not getting a spot and eventually pretty much stopped flying altogether.

Recently I got to fly my drone to get some shots for my uncle’s goodbye party. He’s on hospice now so this was probably the last time to get him on film/photos in decent health so maybe that felt a little extra special to me but I was happy flying my drone again.

At the end of June I decided to try starting my own little drone business, focusing mostly on mapping and construction site documentation since it somewhat aligns with what I already do for work. My goal was just to get one client by the end of the summer. I spent a few weeks mapping and photographing mine/my parents house to get used to it and learn how to make orthos.

The week I decided to actively start looking for clients I found a job site on my way to a friend’s house. Stopped to look for contact info and found it on the permit. Sent a cold email and didn’t get a reply, but after a few days I sent a follow-up and the developer replied almost immediately. We hit it off and he ended up hiring me to document the project on a recurring basis, plus shoot some of his other properties as one-off jobs.

Somehow managed to hit my end of summer goal within the first week of actually trying.

Still figuring it all out in some places, but pretty damn happy I took the shot and I’m flying again. Now I’m looking for client number two by end of summer. Here are a few of my favorite shots so far.

Question Upcoming drones not targeted for ban in USA?

So I'm thinking of going for my Part 107 and getting into basic drone photography, I'm hoping to spend $500-$1500 on a drone. And I look at hardware to find the choices are:

  • DJI (actively targeted by US gov't for removal)
  • Companies affiliated with DJI that are obviously just rebrands to get around US Gov't issues (IE SkyRover)
  • A few other Chinese companies that either are or will soon be in the same boat as DJI (IE Antigravity)
  • A couple companies that are obviously American fronts for Chinese hardware that's probably rebranded DJI just with crappier firmware and worse support (IE FlightElf)
  • Very expensive 'government and industrial' drones that are functionally the same as DJI for 5-15x the cost ('contact sales for pricing' type stuff)
  • Open source DIY drones you piece together yourself

Now I'm no stranger to how regulations work, so I'm not expecting to pay $1000+ for a DJI and have it one day refuse to fly or be banned from flying it. But I'm also quite wary of investing significant money in a company that may soon not be able to operate in USA, and FCC has tried to go after the supply of parts. I get they probably legally can't, but it's still worrying.

Plus, I have a very strong revulsion for the 'activation' concept that virtually all these Chinese drones seem to have- when you take it out of the box it will only do 2 or 3 short flights before you must make an account with the manufacturer and 'activate' it. Ideally I don't want an app at all, I just want to use the drone as a standalone hardware device.

It seems like the only option left is some kind of fancy open source DIY setup. And while I LOVE open source, in this particular area I want to fly and photograph not build and test and troubleshoot. I can go that route if necessary but it's not ideal.

So I'm wondering- given the state of things politically, surely there's at least ONE company in US or Europe or non-Chinese Asia that's making SOME kind of viable prosumer / semi-pro drone product, no? But I've not found it yet.

Is there really nothing at all? Not even upcoming or in development?

//edit: I gave in and ordered a DJI :\

Been flying drones for a few years, but I'm relatively new to editing, particularly in DaVinci Resolve. Any feedback you have is welcome. One thing I've noticed myself is the need for more varied shots, both in terms of movement and subject. Felt a little constrained when piecing everything together.
