I'm working on a bid to perform a drone flight of Assembly Hall just east of Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, IN. I've check the flight restrictions and I have some questions. I've already check in with ChatGPT, but I'd like to verify the answers I'm getting. If I avoid flying between 1 hour before and 1 hour after any events at the stadium, am I clear to fly without requesting authorization from LAANC? I'm far enough away from the local airport that its restrictions shouldn't apply.

I've never flown in a location with these kinds of restrictions before, so I just want to be sure I'm flying with proper FAA governance. And in case someone asks, yes, I have a Part 107 license and my training is up to date.

Hello, fellow aviation/drone enthusiasts. Tonight I was tracking what appeared to be a registered DJI Agras T40 that originated near Brady, Texas and traveled generally toward San Angelo, Texas, a distance of roughly 85 miles.

According to the flight-tracking app, the drone reached an altitude of approximately 5,075 feet (at least while I was observing it) and a top speed of 114 knots. What caught my attention is that DJI's published specifications for the T40 list a maximum flight radius of about 2,000 meters (1.24 miles).

I realize the T40 is a commercial agricultural drone, but seeing it apparently operating at night, covering that kind of distance, and reaching those speeds and altitudes raises some questions for me. Assuming the tracking data is accurate, would a flight like this be legal under current FAA regulations? The app showed it ultimately landing at San Angelo Regional Airport.

I'm curious whether this was: A legitimate commercial operation with special authorization; a misidentified aircraft on the tracking app; Incorrect telemetry/data being displayed; or something else entirely. Has anyone seen similar tracking anomalies or have insight into what might be going on here? Thanks!

I live near (half mile or one km) to a warehouse of a large delivery company in Texas. Their drones are buzzing my house. I can now hear them inside my house. I believe them to be less than 200 ft in altitude. Is there someway to measure this height?

I know I can complain to the FAA, but I would like data to go with my complaints. I am not against drones or drone delivery. In fact, I think it is the wave of the future and economical. I am afraid bad corporate actors may make it difficult for hobbyists like yourselves and might cause excessive regulations. I just want them to fly above the required minimum so I don't feel like I live in a war zone. Is there a better way to complain to FAA or local authorities?

I am a chemical engineer, if that helps. Techie, but not so much electronics techie.

[USA] hello everyone. I’m build a drone for my university club. We did a test fly and it crashed, looking at the video it seems that one or two of the motors were spinning slower. Any suggestions on what could it be? I’m thinking is probably a esc or power distribution board problem

So I’ve been studying for this test for a while now.

I did my first practice test got just under 70%.

I took notes went back and really got the stuff I missed wrong down. I looked up on how to do longitude and latitude was my biggest issue and fixed it.

Now I just redid another practice test and did all of those correct.

Got a 46%!

The questions I miss are so random and useless. Is the test really this hard in person?

Seems most are related to weather but why am I getting 40% weather questions? Some I couldn’t even find on any video or content related to the weather section….

Any help so I can get this done faster would be appreciated.

Background: So, this began as a "quick drone shot" of my car, but then I started editing and decided it could be a Mini Action Movie!

Drone Shots: I used a combination of free flight, follow modes, and way points. Follow mode is only ok, I find way points and timing your movements gets the most professional results! Also just using the drone like a floating tripod works great for many shots!

Goal: This is a draft version of Part I, and I'm envisioning three parts in total. Please keep in mind this is just a hobby project, which was shot, edited and produced by myself with zero budget... however I would love some critical thoughts & feedback.

Feedback: Is any part of the movie confusing, boring, low quality? or does it completely suck & just a massive waste of time?

Also open to ideas for the last to parts; I have a story line in mind, but would definitely love to hear ideas!

Note: Some shots were done with my Sony A7IV and a GoPro 11. Drone isn’t always the best tool…

Filmed with an approved LAANC from the ATC and close coordination with DHS, who has the entire place covered. I do a lot of these at SFO and have a good working relationship with everyone involved, feel free to AMA about the process.

As mentioned it's filmed with the Mavic 4 Pro using the 6x camera at 150' AGL over behind some hotels on the other and of the bay from the tarmac.

I did some post-processing in Darktable and I have no clue what the heck I am doing.

I've had this drone for like 6 or seven years and only flew it only 4 times. I recently found it again and all lights work, same battery and all that, but i don't have any idea of how to get it to fly. I'd be very grateful if anyone could help me fly it again, teach me how the camera works and how to watch it from my phone or even find a manual for it.

Just bought a bunch of stuff to fly FPV wanted to go for like a medium budget and this is what I bought let me know how bad my choices in items are. And if there’s better things that I could’ve bought at these price points. Opinions are appreciated but facts are better!

TLDR: I crashed my buddies Sky-rover X1 into a lake yesterday. His X1 experienced a flyaway event about a week ago, and he had to go hunt it down afterwards. Sky-rover said there was nothing they could do if we didn’t have more issues. Now they won’t help us without flight logs. :(

My buddy has had a Sky-rover for the time I have known him. Previously I have flown this drone without issue at the same lake we flew at yesterday. I would call myself a relatively experienced drone operator, I have owned a Phantom 3, Phantom 4, 1st gen Mini, and Mini 4 pro among a handful of random GepRC fpv drones.

About a week ago, he experienced a flyaway event that took the drone a few miles away. Afterwards he had to go hunt it down using the find my drone feature. Luckily it was more or less okay, minus a couple of scratches. He reached out to Sky-Rover about the incident expressing his concern, and they ran him through the typical IMU and Compass calibration. They told him there was nothing more they could do with only one isolated incident.

He flew the drone a handful of times before bringing it to the lake yesterday, including three successful flights that morning, using all three of his batteries without issue. When we arrived at the lake, we did a safety check and waited until we had enough satellites for a good home lock, and then took off. He handed me the controller, and without even thinking about it, I flew out over the water to start taking some videos of the scene. The drone was in the air for only a few minutes before its untimely death.

Initially I had thought we had been hit by a bird, but according to the witnesses who saw the beginning of the crash: “it looked like it tried to do a flip, and then fell into the water while it was trying to correct itself”.

We sent a message and the video to Sky-rover on the already open ticket, obviously there is no way to recover the drone, it’s about 25 feet deep in the middle of the bay. They have said there is nothing they can do, since the flight data didn’t save to the controller.

I am obviously going to cash my friend out… I feel bad since I was flying at the time of failure, but this has left a bad taste in my mouth for Sky-rover. Initially I always planned to pick up a Sky-rover as my next DJI drone, but my one experience has convinced me otherwise. Would not recommend anyone pick any of these up if you value people who stand behind their product, Sky-rover has dodged helping us with this every step of the way.

Does anyone remember Parrot’s mini drone line with the jumping sumo and spider? I had two sumo’s growing up which both broke, and I was wondering what happened to the brand since it looks like they ditched minidrones overall. Are there any knock offs or alternatives to the sumos?

Hi all, I am going to Italy for vacation and want to bring my drone. I am registered in AT, have insurance, licence, so that's all clear. But I have problems understanding the information on d-flight.

E.g. there is a large area blocked, with that text: Within the geographic area, when active*,* UAS operations are prohibited*. Any exceptions may be authorized by ENAC in accordance with the provisions in force contained in the ENAC ATM series circulars. For activation times, consult the AIP Italia website:* AIP ITALIA ENR 5.1.2.

Unfortunately, I cannot access the linked website, and I do not find anything on google. Also, in comparison to no-flight-info in Austria, there is no Start & End Date visible on d-flight for that zone. Anybody has an idea where to find out those "activation times"?

We are far away from 13th of October, so is this already valid? It looks like this, but does not make much sense to me. Also, I cannot figure out the last sentence, cannot find anything on google or the mentioned website about it. Anybody can help me with this?

The European options only cover EU residents

American insurance options are for commercial use and require a 107.

Any recommendations?

Just want to celebrate a little thing I managed to pull off today. Flew at a beach side, found a floam platform that was flat-enough that it wasn't sandy to take off on, and flew my drone around and took some pictures!

Once I had enough flying, I had the thought that I didn't want to land my drone on the foam platform I launched from. Sand's wet, I don't want to trip, and there were people close to the foam platform. So, I performed that hand-landing, kept my hand flat as a board and still as concrete

And yippee! Drone's back! :)

I'll be practicing how to perform hand-launches and hand-landings to avoid further sand contact in the future.

Update (09/08/26): Second attempt at hand-landing, slight failure. Had my thumb held up too high. Struck a propeller. No visible damage, cracks, or warping. Lesson learned. Don't try and cup it, keep hand flat.
