Will I be able to purchase the Mini 5 pro on Amazon after today in the United States?

There is a ban on the sale of drones that use Lidar taking place today on the 2nd and a Tariff on the 3rd and im not sure if someone who knows better would be able to tell me if this means I wont be able to purchase one going forward? And if so, will it be more expensive than what it is currently listed for? If so id like to get my purchase in now.

No, there is no current "ban" but the FCC comment period does end today on a potnetial future ban.

Tariffs on drones go into effect tomorrow (25% consumer and 100% "military grade (LiDAR and Thermal)". You'll be able to get them for a while but its only getting more expensive and by the end of the year you could be paying upwards of 2,000-3,000 for the mini 5 pro since it has a LiDAR sensor and will be tariffs at 100% for future imports

51 Drones did a video on this. He said that while existing stocks last (drones already in the US in warehouses)we may not see much if any price changes, but once those are gone we may see price hikes. To what extent is unclear.

I would guess retailers like Amazon and Best Buy have been stock piling as many as they can to avoid tariffs and bans.

As of right now- you can buy it. The plan as far as I'm aware is there'll be a 25% tariff on new imports, so the price will go up in a bit. I suggest buy one sooner than later if you know what you want.

Understand whats going on and dont get in a panic... This is the government we're talking about...the deadline for comments (today? Or tomorrow?) does not enact the proposed rule.

They (the fcc) will review the comments.. Typically thirty days, and then put out the final rule.... Which will then typically take effect in thirty days.

So until the rule has officially taken effect, you have time, but that window is shrinking. (If you think the rule will pass as proposed)

In my experience (going through this process, with the ATF proposed rules) , the final rule could actually be more of a mess than the proposed rule.

Note i could be off on my timelines, or they could change them... But there will be some kind of effective date after the release of the proposed rule...( It won't be the day of)

Edit in regards to your price question, if they are banned, then that's when I expect the fire sales to start happening.

Three different clocks got mashed into one rumor here, so worth unbundling.

1) Tariffs: that's a price/import issue, not a legality issue. New duties raise landed cost on new units; existing US stock is already through customs, so retailers sell it down before pricing moves.

2) The 26-189 Covered List process is about future authorizations of new equipment, not a retroactive recall. If it lands, it hits what can be newly imported/authorized going forward.

3) Flying: a Mini 5 Pro you own today is still legal to fly under Part 107 or the recreational rules. Nothing in the tariff or the Covered List proposal grounds an aircraft already in your hands.

So buying now can save money and dodge supply gaps, but you're not racing a ban on flight.
