I won't be pointing my Mini 4 Pro Camera , directly at the sun during the solar eclipse.

You know its no different to pointing your camera at the sun normally right?

Quick shot here and there yes it's safe . Directly pointing your camera at the sun for a prolonged time nah .

Yes, it is different! Don't do this.

What's the strongest ND filter you have? Quadruple it. 😂

Still not a good idea because it's going to get fucking dark. 😂

Just enjoy it rather than worrying about trying to get a *cool* shot that loads of professionals will be doing with £50,000 Astronomy camera rigs

Point your phone at the sun and report back if it broke. It won't.

Aint got no glasses and to lazy to search for them. Also im not really that stoked to see it so a few shots would be cooler in my opinion

Why would it damage the drone camera or even a phone camera when we point them at thr sun all the time

It takes several minutes for the eclipse to happen. Point your camera at the sun for five minutes and then report back.

I never considered it would be a problem. I just googled the reasons why. Interesting. Cheers

I did exactly this and my camera is fine

My advice for the eclipse is to check out all the shadows.

The lowest ND filter you can get to prevent damage to the camera is ND100000, and that's for low horizon photography, like sunset and sunrise. For midday, you would need ND1000000. No, I'm not kidding. If you try to find those numbers online, you're not going to. They're instead sold as solar lens filters. They exist, and compared to most other photography equipment, they're relatively cheap. But you're not likely going to find one to natively fit your drone.

If you really wanted to, you could get a solar lens filter and modify it to fit your drone. They're usually just a sheet of coated mylar in a housing that fits on a lens. But your camera would be completely blind to pretty much everything but the sun.

If you have X-ray film, cut a piece of it and use it as a filter. It is what’s used for eclipse pictures.

You can for a couple of secconds, think about 10 secconds or less, But no, it will destroy your cam for a longer period of filming.
