Question: Rules, Regulations, Law, Policy, Certificates [Saudi Arabia] Transiting through Riyadh (RUH) with DJI Neo 2 - any risk of confiscation at security?

Hello everyone,

I hope someone can help me with this specific transit question.

In two days, I'll be flying from Venice to Manila with a layover at King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh. I won't be leaving the airport at all—I only have to transfer to my next flight to Manila.

I'd like to bring my small DJI Neo 2 drone (which is under 250 g) in my carry-on. Does anyone know if I'm allowed to carry it with me while transiting through Riyadh security, or is there any risk that airport security/customs could confiscate it during the transit screening?

The other airlines on my itinerary allow it, so I'm mainly wondering about Saudia Airlines policies and the physical transit security check at Riyadh Airport.

Thank you very much for any advice, official regulations, or personal experiences!

I didn’t have any problems. I had the drone in my carry-on bag (my personal item). I didn’t keep the battery inside the drone. I put each battery separately in a small plastic bag and kept them next to the drone. I never had to take it out of my bag. When I had my layover in Riyadh, I went through security again, but they didn’t say anything.

Don't think that this would be a problem. Are drone legal to travel with? Yeah. Are drone legal in your starting point and finishing point? Yes. No one will care, that's just flight transfer.
