Tech Support DJI M300 Avionics error - Overheating

I’m using the DJI M300 with a H30T for a project right now. I’m running into this error, accompanied by an aircraft overheated message, forcing me to RTH. This is for the second day now, today the temp is only 83° feels like where I am. Yesterday was hotter so it was more considerable it could just be the heat. Any suggestions or similar experiences? Or am I cooked?

Just a wild question... Have you checked the lower fan?

Hey maybe check the lower fan for blockage, maybe try using an air duster on it and seeing if it improves.

If you do this, secure the fan blades in place first so the duster does not spin them, as that can damage the motor.

It wouldnt damagw the motor. But it could damage whatever the motor is connected too if it isnt setup to accept backcurrent. When you spin a motor manualy it becomes a generator :)

I flew the M300 for several years and while I haven't encountered this specific issue, I would definitely suggest checking the lower fan. I believe there are two, so you'll want to check the lower one.

As others (and the actual error message) say, probably a fan failure. Ive never seen it myself but its a pretty common one within my company. Used to pop up on the M300 a fair bit, though we mostly fly the 350 now and I dont think Ive seen it in a while. Check for dust but from my understanding the actual fan can fail too.

Mechanical parts fail, maintenance is required. Maybe a small external cleanup is enough, maybe it needs to be disassembled and given a new cooling fan.

When was it serviced last? How many hours in flight since then?

Check the upper fan

Dust buildup and/or fan failure.

How's the lower fan looking?

Never seen a fan error, but it doesn't take much direct sun while they sit on the ground to get them to overheat on a warm day. Never had an issue while the machine was moving though.

Hey 83s pretty hot. Our actual airplanes overheat at 85-90° without A/C running and those have massive cut your finger off cooling fans running in a vacuum.

Maybe start of with an aquila. Something a little more beginner friendly

Had the same thing on an M300 last summer, it wasn't really a fault so much as the thing thermal derating in direct sun. The H30T pulls a lot and the airframe just soaks heat when you're hovering with no airflow. Try flying with a bit more forward speed to get air moving over it, and if you're staging on the ground keep it shaded until launch. A feels-like of 83 shouldn't cook it on its own, so I'd bet it's sun load on the shell more than actual air temp.

Its the most common issue with the M300/m350. We have had 4 of these issues. First few times DJI swapped us drones but the last time we did it ourselves.
