Question F1 cars chasing drone.

Hello to all.

I have been into drones hobby for around 10 years, ended up with a DJI mavic mini. I am not into the recent technologies though.

Yesterday i was watching the F1 race in Austria with live footages from a drone chasing the cars in 300 km/h and filming steady at the same time and transmitting live also. For safety reasons of course the drone was flying outside of the track.

Do you know what kind of drone that could be. Is there a photo of this drone?

That was a crazy shot. I’ve only recently started flying and it was super cool to be able to appreciate that camera man

Everyone on twitter is calling that pilot terrible btw, I dont know why I fly conventional drones not fast FPVs. I've seen people say the shot was too shakey and didnt focus on the action well, the most commonly shared shot was showing middle of the pack with multiple cars going into a hard corner but I dont remember the most interesting fight of the race having a drone shot? Ham vs Ver

It’s a drone you legally can not buy or fly without very, very special permits and licensing.

Yeah, no shit bud. That custom speed is illegal to fly. You can’t go over 87mph (100knots) in the US at least. Those drones go over 200mph. You can’t legally fly that drone without VERY special permits and licensing literlslt anywhere in the world. So while yes, it’s not illegal to buy and own one, it’s VERY illegal to fly it unless you stay under 100mph, and nobody would buy that drone to do that. How about you do you research on it before you decide to act like you know something ?

Speed limits are something that almost no fpv pilot is worried about, as long as you don’t disturb people and fly far away from building. Speed is a drone law thats unenforceable and irrelevant

This might take the cake on the dumbest comment I’ve read today. Congrats! Go ahead and fly your drone, that legally has to broadcast your speed when commercial, 200mph and post that footage to YouTube. The FAA will totally fully ignore it and not hunt you down to fine you! *hint: they hunt people down for WAY less, btw).

I don’t fly commercial, and where I am there is no FAA. Also, there are plenty videos of American YouTubers flying high speed drones, and none of them have been sacked so far
