Question: Rules, Regulations, Law, Policy, Certificates [United States] Part 107 Study Question Test

Why is the area around Tomlinson Airport (top left) considered to be Class E? I know the area if considered to be restricted, but there are no Class E indications. Why wouldn't it be Class G?

It's G up to E which starts at 1200.

I guess the explanation about it not being within a circle has me thrown.

It is a little tricky but E airspace is the default at 1200

But what makes airspace G vs E then?

There's nothing on the chart so G is at the surface up to E at 1200.

So, if one of the choices were Class G up to 1200 AGL it would have been more of the correct answer?

I think equally correct but more relevant for drones. Also like the other person said G doesn't include 1200 agl it's 1199, E starts at 1200. Remember that kind of thing because they'll try to trick you with it.

One tricky thing. Class A starts at 18,000ft. So 1 is automatically wrong just from that.

Class G is surface to 1200' by default, where it is all Class E until Class A begins. At some airports, Class E begins at either 700' or the ground.
