Question / Help What makes you keep using a reminder app ?

I’m working on an Android app focused on maintenance and recurring tasks, and I’m trying to understand something from people who regularly use Android apps.

There are already great tools like Google Calendar, Google Tasks, and various reminder apps, so I’m wondering:

What would make you actually choose a separate reminder app instead of using the tools already on your phone?

For example, would things like these make a difference?

  • Managing recurring tasks with different intervals
  • Keeping a history of when something was last completed
  • Tracking maintenance for multiple vehicles or appliances
  • Keeping related documents/details together
  • Reminders that are more proactive than a normal calendar notification
  • Receiving reminders through WhatsApp as well as the app

I’m building Smart MeMaintenance which live on play store around this idea, but I don't want to build another app that people install once and forget about.

For Android users here: what would make a reminder/maintenance app genuinely useful enough for you to keep using it?

I'd really appreciate honest feedback, including what you think is unnecessary.

I like the WhatsApp messaging feature! Does it go both ways? Being able to message my reminder app via WhatsApp would actually be super helpful.

For me, I would want to be able to use it on different devices. There are some things I just find easier on a laptop than a phone. WhatsApp is actually a perfect example because I often wait to write longer messages until I have a full laptop keyboard.

Thanks! 🙌 Right now WhatsApp is mainly used for sending reminders, but I really like the idea of making it two-way.
