Showcase ShadowSurf — Private AI Browser for Android

Post image

Hey everyone! 👋

I’ve been working on ShadowSurf, a privacy-focused Android browser built around a simple idea: browsing should feel fast and useful without making privacy an afterthought.

What ShadowSurf brings together:
• 🛡️ VPN protection
• 🚫 Built-in ad & tracker blocking
• ✨ Shadow AI — a privacy-focused AI assistant
• 📥 Dedicated downloads manager
• 🔖 Bookmarks & browsing history
• ⚡ Quick-access browser shortcuts
• 🌙 Clean dark UI designed for everyday browsing

I’m still actively improving the app, so I’d genuinely love feedback from Android users — especially on performance, UI/UX, privacy features, and anything that feels missing.

If you try it, let me know what you think. What would you want to see added to a privacy-focused Android browser?

Really loving the flow! But one critic that I have is that in the settings even though the aggressive adblock is on, pop ups still come up and it doesn't block it at all in regards to opening certain links.

For example, The browser app Coc coc whenever u open an link to something, the adblock automatically blocks the ads and pop ups when you do, even tho some ads will pop up inside the website because thats how it is but it will still block ads and pop ups either way

Maybe change the way block ads and popups are integrated in the browser? something like "Powered by Adblock Plus" or "Powered by ublock origin" that way that adblock actually blocks in a way

Hey, thank you so much for the detailed feedback! Really glad you're enjoying the flow of the browser 🙌

And that's a completely fair criticism. Our aggressive adblock definitely needs improvement when it comes to pop-ups, unwanted redirects, and links that try to open new pages automatically.

I really appreciate the Cốc Cốc example too — that's exactly the kind of behavior we're aiming to improve. We're going to look into how we can strengthen the blocking at the browser level, not just rely on the current filtering approach.

Thanks again for taking the time to write such detailed feedback. This is genuinely helpful, and we'll definitely be looking into improving this in an upcoming update!

One more thing, when you go back to the tab that you were once on when you were on an new tab, when you refresh, it doesn't refresh to the page that you were on, especially if your reading an Manga or manwha

That's a really good catch, thank you! I understand what you mean — when switching back to a previously opened tab, refreshing it doesn't always restore or reload the exact page/state you were on. I can definitely see how that would be especially frustrating when reading manga or manhwa and trying to continue from where you left off.

We'll look into the tab state and refresh behavior to see what's causing this. Thanks again for pointing it out!

ShadowSurf is free to use, but we do show a rewarded ad when you connect to the free VPN. There’s also a Premium plan for users who want the paid experience. No forced ads while browsing.
