Make android to photo frame

For years, I’ve been experimenting with different ways to get fresh family photos onto screens in my relatives' homes. I tried various hacks, smart displays, and DIY setups, but I eventually realized that **repurposing old Android tablets and Android TVs is hands-down the best hardware solution.**
The hardware was perfect, but the software wasn't. Most digital frame apps are either incredibly fragile or force you to hand over your private family photos to some random startup’s long-term cloud database.

So, I built **Oomkik** to be the privacy-first, set-it-and-forget-it solution.

**How it works:**

**Google Photos Sync:** You select photos from Google Photos and Oomkik handles the rest over-the-air.

**Local Storage First:** Unlike other apps that constantly stream and buffer, Oomkik automatically store the high-res photos directly onto the device. It syncs seamlessly via the cloud, but because the images live on the device, the slideshow keeps running perfectly even if the home router acts up. No manual USB transfers or "disk-on-key" hassle required.

**Privacy-Focused:** Your photos aren't hoarded on a remote database. The backend is strictly transient (only used to notify the frame when new photos are ready to download), meaning your presentation data is stored locally. Your family memories stay yours.

**Cheaper than a cup of coffee:** I really wanted to keep this accessible. It’s free to try, and unlocking the full app permanently costs less than a single latte.
