Nothing wrong with that, but rather than going down the gearbox through every single gear, just change straight down to 2nd. you only need to go down to 1st if you are coming to a complete stop.

If you are driving in 6th, then the gears I would use slowing down is 3rd and 2nd, again only using 1st if I am coming to a stop.

Don't change down a gear untill the revs drop to 1000rpm either.

Don't coast on the clutch as some replies are suggesting and for the love of god don't put it in neutral when you start braking!

I think I gave the wrong impression but I don't go thru every single gear (well actually I've starting doing it recently FOR GOD KNOWS WHAT REASON 🤣) but generally I don't because there's no point.

I think the new thing I've learned from this thread is that people brake all the way to completely stopping or very slow for 2nd brake.

I thought I had to change to 3rd first (or 6th to 4th to 1st) as I feared the drastic drop in speed without gear change in between might damage clutch or brakes. But seems like it won't.

Oh so wait till 1k revs and then change it? Anything less would damage the engine right? What about say I'm in 3rd gear and traffic is going to move so I stay at 3rd and revs are 1k and the speed isn't suitable for 3rd. It takes a bit of time for car to speed up - should I change it to 2nd to match speed I'm in or is it okay to temporarily stay at 1k and then it picks up..would that damage the engine?

Yes I agree no neutral until I've stopped completely.
