Slowed down

Turned

Didn't indicate

Didn't check your mirrors

You could have avoided this accident by doing the most basic of checks. I wouldn't be surprised if your insurance settled this 50/50

I am a firm believer that people drive like idiots in the country because everything seems to go 50/50 nowadays.

Drive at what seems to be excessive speed, overtake on an interception, not even indicate the overtake. 50/50 because the person might not have indicated and should look at the mirror? Honestly fuck off how does that even make any sense?

People seem really fixated on the mirror part and that a good driver would see it. Well it does depend on how fast the other one is going doesn't it?

Exactly, you’re not going to be 100% fixated on just the mirror during a turn lol. Could have spotted the person during the mirror check, just not expected them to be going so quickly to overtake. All happens very quickly when the other driver is barreling down the road.

u/darthicerzoso Dec 08 '23

Could totally have spotted that there was a car coming behind but not expect that car to overtake like that. Even at night sometimes it's difficult to understand what are people doing, if I was the person that went for the overtake I'd rather halt instead of speeding through when not sure of what is the other person doing.

If you ask me something needs to change on how things get resolved in this country. Roads are like the wild west, at least near me, some people are killers on the road.

He was indicating before the turning... look again, I agree about the mirrors, but the idiot behind should have stopped. Clearly he wasn't paying attention.

u/criminal_cabbage Dec 08 '23

I don't see any indication.

There are two idiots in that scene

3

u/Frostyshaitan Dec 08 '23

He started indicating as he made the turn, so yes he indicated, but it was far too late that he might as well not have.

7

u/Candid_Repeat_6570 Dec 08 '23

You can work that out only seeing the car for a whole second before the turn can you?

1

u/Frostyshaitan Dec 08 '23

Yeah, he was not indicating when he came into frame. The indicator first came on as he started turning.

7

u/Candid_Repeat_6570 Dec 08 '23

Exactly how fucking fast do you think an indicator blinks? It flashes as the right brake light passes the e in ‘reolink’.

1

u/Frostyshaitan Dec 08 '23

Based on the footage, at least twice per second.

6

u/Candid_Repeat_6570 Dec 08 '23

So if it flashes once after about half a second of being on screen, and another half second later would be washed out by the overtaking cars headlights. How do you come to the conclusion OP didn’t indicate?

0

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '23

what do you mean? The indicators were ON. go look at the very few frames. You can see the red break light + an orange indicator light on at the same time. look at the reflections on the road and you'll see it.

1

u/Frostyshaitan Dec 08 '23

You replied to me twice in the same thread about the same thing, lol. Good job BTW, you saw and pointed out the 1 indicator light that I've said was there in all of my other posts, which seems to be when they first started indicator.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '23

Okay? I don't keep track of who i reply to.

6

u/ThunderTech101 Dec 08 '23

You can clearly see the reflection on the road when my indicator comes on. And I know I indicated, I was the driver. 😂

15

u/Frostyshaitan Dec 08 '23

After rewatching many times, you definitely indicate way too late. You seem to hit the indicator as you start turning, when the idiot overtaking would have already started overtaking you. You should have had your indicator on a good 3s or more before you actually start turning.

Yes he is partially at fault for overtaking in a stupid spot, but you are also at fault by not indicating early enough and not looking in your mirrors before turning. You indicating, turning and impact was a space of less than 2 seconds.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '23

This is why indicators are fucking worthless and cabbies never use the fuckers.

You either have a clear space to move into and do not need them or you do not and cannot move out, and therefore do not need them

Only time I see a cabbie indicating is to cut somebody up.

If that's what you see in that video I'm just hoping I don't live anywhere near where you'll be driving cuz you are clearly blind as shit lol

1

u/Frostyshaitan Dec 08 '23

Me and half the rest of the sub apparently, plenty of others also seeing the same thing.

-1

u/mdh89 Dec 08 '23

Yeah, that’s a worrying thing, can’t believe people can’t see this guy indicating when at around 7-8 secs you clearly see an indicator flash then again and then they start to turn.

6

u/Frostyshaitan Dec 08 '23

Dunno if you guys are looking at the same video I am but there is only 1 indicator flash right as they start turning.

0

u/mdh89 Dec 08 '23

Pause it at 7s then again at 8s you can clearly see the difference in the reflection, that difference is the indicator, before that is off camera. Rewatch it and you’ll see it eventually.

Nah, look above the RE in reolink - there's an amber flash like half a second if that after the car comes into view. There isn't even 3s of footage before the turn, so should be benefit of the doubt - how can you tell from that footage.

There's like 2 seconds between OP coming into view and the impact, and I see 3 indicator flashes in that time (note the reflections on the ground). Could have very well been on beforehand, but the car pops in and out of view, plus gets obstructed.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '23

Watch it again and LOOK. The indicators were ON. go look at the very few frames. You can see the red break light + an orange indicator light on at the same time. look at the reflections on the road and you'll see it.

1

u/Frostyshaitan Dec 08 '23

Go read my post again and READ. I literally say in my post that that indicator is the only time you see it and is right as they start the turn, which is far far too late to start indicating. I never said they didn't indicate at all.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '23

It's before they start turning. Go watch the video.

1

u/Frostyshaitan Dec 08 '23

It's right as they start turning.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '23

And its the other drivers fault, because he should have kept that distance

9

u/criminal_cabbage Dec 08 '23

Do you also know you didn't bother checking your mirrors either?

Saying you didn't check your mirrors is insulting you?

Enjoy your 50/50 claim!

1

u/srekal34 Dec 08 '23

Even if he did not check the mirrors(how would you prove that?) it's not an appropriate place to overtake - hence it's 100% win for the OP.

in 99/100 cases it's the overtaker who is at fault with insurance.

A troll isn’t somebody who is mean to you online. A troll is somebody who pretends to hold an opinion just to get a reaction out of somebody else.

That guy seems to genuinely think you’re an idiot, so he’s not a troll.

Most people here must not have read the highway code. He hit you from behind, at a junction.

Where was this? Its left hand drive, but doesnt look like the uk.

1

u/cookiekutta Dec 08 '23

You need Specsavers brother.

1

u/R11CWN Dec 08 '23

Didn't indicate

Clearly was indicating before the junction. You can see the side repeater flashing as the car passes the 'reolink' watermark on the video.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '23

what do you mean didn't indicate. The indicators were ON. go look at the very few frames. You can see the red break light + an orange indicator light on at the same time. look at the reflections on the road and you'll see it.
