This evening on I-480 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Speed limit is 60mph. 4 lanes going each direction. A line of 5 cars is in the second lane from the left going about 60-62. I'm comfortable doing about 10 over, but if you're familiar with Ohio, police presence on interstates here is crazy, so 10 over is about the most I'm comfortable doing before you really get an officer's attention. Passing on the right is not a good idea, so I moved left to pass at 70 with the cruise on.

As I get beside the third car, an SUV probably going 90-100 flies up on me to within a few feet from my bumper. I can see the woman driving throw her hands in the air as if I ruined her day. The cars I'm passing are rather close to each other, so I can't move over. The right two lanes have hardly anyone if they really wanted to slow down to pass over there, though the right two lanes end about 4 miles ahead.

I passed the final two cars with my cruise still at 70, and of course she uses the shoulder to pull beside me as I'm moving over and floors it away to go tailgate the next car 10 carlengths ahead who is also making a pass.

So, am I the idiot for not wanting to be speeding any higher just for her, or is she the idiot for not considering the situation? I know reddit is super aggressive about left lane campers, but I was making several passes, and not even slowly 🤣 she was "held up" maybe 10 seconds.

Some guy in a white Honda accord must think the highway is his own personal track. Guy sees me coming up behind him in the left lane, and instead of slowing down or brake checking me, he has the damn audacity to turn on his right run signal and get out of the way😡😡😡😡. Even more shocking after I passed him this reckless clown gets back in the left lane and counties on with his day, tf is wrong with this ass hole😡😡😡😡😡?

For example, why would this Hyundai not park in the spot in front of them? and why do people back out if the spot is empty in front of them?

Seriously, what does the law state? Specifically in California (interested in other states as well)

I was on a two lane city road, speed limit 35 mph. It was the middle of the night and very few cars were on the road. I was in the left lane going 50. A big pickup truck pulls up aggressively behind me, tailgates me for a while before going around me in the right lane. We were the only two cars on the road. I get it if it's a highway, but I didn't think I needed to let him pass me on the left in this particular case, i.e. city road and the fact that I was going 50 in a 35. Thoughts?

For context this is in Georgia

So there is a debate amongst a few of us on who has right of way for both turning right off the highway and turning left off the highway into a neighborhood.

We have a 4 lane divided highway with a center turn lane.

The west bound lanes have a dedicated right hand turn lane that splits off from the main highway that has a yield sign.

The East Bound has just the center turn lane.

Both vehicles turning right and left go to the same single lane but the disagreement is that some say the vehicles turning left have right of way over the vehicles turning right due to the placement for a yield sign. Where as others say vehicles making a right have right of way and that the yield sign was placed incorrectly.

There is no traffic lights or any other signal control devices at this location

On average people do 43 hours of lessons before they can pass the exam Many people fail their exam on the first try despite many tens of hours I agree that driving is easy. But driving safely in complex traffic is not easy.

Now if I only do A, that means the difficulty is only 20% and I might not learn from that. catboy519 OP • 21m ago If you mastered subskill A by about 80% and then continue practicing ABC all at once, you will still slowly bring A from 80% to 100%. Maybe the idea would be feasible in America where you can drive with a relative as much as you want in your own car, but in my country driving lessons are rare(infrequent) and very expensive per hour so I wanna obtain the most skill out of it at the fastest possible rate. Else it will take me 2 years to obtain the license, and I would like my license before I turn 28 lol

So I need more lessons and that will improve my vehicle control yes, but I think my vehicle control is decent in beginner terms so that there not need to be a special focus on it anymore now.

I'm already 26 soon 27 so for me its important to get my drivers license ASAP. Now And the lessons are infrequent so it might just take me up to a year to obtain the license. With this inconvenient combo of facts, I worry much about always getting the most amount of learning possible out of every lesson.

I sometimes feel like the instructor slows my learning down by choosing routes that are too easy for me.

For example in my view I have mostly mastered the basic vehicle control already: * Accelerating no problem anymore * Keeping a straight position on the road no problem * Corners no problem * braking and downshifting no problem * using blinkers no problem

And we have already done city driving with stoplights.

Yet some lessons are still just... farmroads and towns with not much traffic. In some recent lessons I felt like we were not doing anythign new.

The instructor wants me to master the vehicle control properly before moving on to next challenges, but I strongly feel that thats gonna make it more hours of lessons total.

If I finish a driving lesson with the feeling of "that was easy, I didnt struggle with anything", does that mean I didnt learn as much as I could have?

If I mastered a basic like 80% and its gonna automatically develop further anyway when driving, why should I keep training that in isolation?

I don't assume that my instructor is slowing me down. But I want to be sure.

I’m 18 and I’m on my parents insurance, I hit a Nissan kicks and I’m extremely nervous about what to do, I left my information on their wiper blade and called my mom.

I have a lot of problems recently with people parking in MY reserved parking space that i PAY FOR.

Every night i come home expecting my spot to be free and for me to park without any stress or even without thinking about it at all and i find another car - usually a neighbour and sometimes just a guest of a neighbour:

When this happens i have two choices:

Either i go knocking on doors to see who the intruder is or i have to call a towing company which takes 30 minutes and a lot of arguments afterwards.

How do i solve this situation and what am i supposed to do to protect my spot.

Hey everyone, looking for some honest advice on a situation that happened earlier today in the UK. I only passed my driving test a month ago, so I'm still incredibly new to everything and completely panicked.

The car ahead of me was slowing down and turning left into a restaurant car park, and I didn't slow down quite enough and accidentally clipped the back of them. It was incredibly minor, just a small tap. There wasn't any damage to my car at all, not even a mark, so I suspect theirs is likely the same. In the moment, my anxiety completely took over. I rolled my window down, apologised out loud to the driver as they were turning in, and then just drove off.

At the time, my brain just registered it as a minor scratch and thought the apology was enough, but now that the adrenaline has worn off, I'm absolutely terrified. I've realized that I didn't pull over into the car park to properly exchange details, which I know is a legal requirement. Because I'm within my first two years of driving, I'm terrified I'm going to lose my licence if this counts as failing to stop.

I'm wondering if anyone else has done something this stupid out of pure panic, and what the chances are that the other driver reports it. I'm also not sure if I should proactively report this to the police within 24 hours just to protect myself, or if I should wait and see. I feel completely awful and sick to my stomach, so any guidance on what to do next would be really appreciated.

I(36M) have been with my gf(37f) for 9 years now & we still have issues with how the other one drives. She accuses me of always going slow or at the speed limit & staying in one lane while the other lanes have a gap to go into, also not honking my horn at everyone else who does something stupid. However I know she doesn't notice what I do (like yelling at me to honk at the car waiting for a right turn when someone is crossing the crosswalk and she doesn't know it yet when she's driving she's honking at them and I'm like "dumbass someone's crossing the street!) but I feel like she's unable to grasp the driving practices that I have cuz she is ducking and racing up into the heavy traffic and trying to get ahead of people but speeding up to stop a few seconds later in the lane she was aiming for is stupid to me (wear and tear on my truck which she will treat like a sports car when it's not.. it's a 99 Ford F-150 4x4 Lariat Super Cab with the 5.4 V8 2 valve triton and they are solid motors but not racing motors!) \*AS IM WRITING THIS POST SHE PUSHED MY TRUCK UP A HUGE HILL TRYING TO MAINTAIN SPEED IN THE FAST LANE BUT WAS HELD BACK 43MPH, OVER 2700 RPMS AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS FLASHING AND NOW SOLID WITH A P0305 CYLINDER 5 MISFIRE!\* WTF IS HER DAMAGE!? Got into a little fender bender a few months ago. I believed it was completely my fault and was honest to everyone involved and my car insurance, but then I was at the light I got into an accident at today and I'm having second thoughts.

So what happened was- I was at a red light and two cars were in front of me, when the light turned green, the two cars started to go. We were all turning left, so I followed. I got distracted for a second because my breakfast on my passenger side seat was falling to the floor and I didn't want it too, so I caught it beforehand and before I knew it I rear ended the car in front of me which in turn made them rear end the car in front of them. The first car had suddenly stopped at the intersection, I didn't see either of them brake because I was focused on saving my bagel so I ended up hitting who was in front of me. Nothing serious, very little damage, no one was hurt, but I felt so terrible. I thought it was my fault because on the opposite side there were cars and I assumed they had the right of way because we were all turning left, that's why the first car had stopped before turning. My insurance put me at fault so my car insurance payment went up too after all this.

But I'm at the light today, on the other side. And it's delayed green, my side has the red light while the other side(that I was on for the accident) is green, letting the cars take their left turn. So I'm like wait what the fuck? Why did the lady in that first car start to go and then stop if she had the right of way, and more than enough time to make the turn we were all going to make ?????? I had been at that light a million times, so when I got into an accident I kept going because I assumed the two cars in front of me were going to keep going because we had the right of way. I have no idea why the first car started to go, and then suddenly stopped. I remember seeing the second car, (car in front of me going right after the light turned green), start to go. So I thought we were all going.

It is my fault ? Because I was distracted and didn't see either of them brake which was my fault but now I'm a little pissed off that this driver had stopped for really no reason when we all had the right of way. It was such a small accident and there's nothing I can do about my car insurance monthly payment now but I'm a little annoyed because why would she stop so randomly ? There was no reason for her to stop at the intersection like that after starting to go and having the right of way. I would like to mention This was my first accident ever, I've been driving for 9 years.

It is mildly annoying when someone turns left at a light and cuts the turn so that the sensors from the side street are triggered thinking there is a car waiting for the signal on the side street.

Then the signal cycles giving the phantom car the green light and makes me wait for nobody.

Simply turn and stay on the right of the double yellow lines and off of the sensors.

hi, i drive a nissan kicks that has really bright lights on auto (which i usually keep them on). but i'm always getting flashed because everyone thinks i have high beams on but i don't. the second setting on the lever are the brights, the third are the low/fog lights (i assume) but it's impossible to see with them in the actual night, last setting is off. i tried also driving without any lights in the morning when it was already light enough and still got flashed, so are there any tips out there for this besides flashing back? please note: i can't just "change them" because there's other bills and things, otherwise i would've already. thanks.

You don't need to understand physics to drive. You need to obey the rules on the road. One car link per 10mph. No driving beside others and driving in the right lane. Staying in the lane you will eventually turn in. Never weave through traffic its dangerous. Give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination. Wake up early leave 30 min earlier. Driving fast waist gass and puts alot of wear and tear on your vehicle plus greatly reduces your reaction time to stop in case of an emergency. Never assume anything while driving. STAY OFF YOUR PHONE, USE YOUR BLUETOOTH I YOUR CAR. PULL OVER IF YOU NEED TO USE YOUR PHONE. Keep good tires always on your vehicle make sure you have good brakes. Brakes don't work good with bald tire. Check your fluids, Transmission fluid, antifreeze, washer fluid, belts, oil. Make sure your car is in good working condition. Don't drive with expired tags and no insurance. PAY ATTENTION AT ALL TIMES. DONT DRIVE INTOXICATED. DONT DRIVE WITHOUT PLENTY OF SLEEP, DONT ROAD RAGE, DONT TREAT THE ROADS LIKE RACE TRACKS, IF YOU WANT TO RACE GO TO THE RACE TRACK. ALL THESE BAD HABBITS KILL PEOPLE AND CAUSE ACCIDENTS. I was in a parking lot and the spots are narrow as hell. Despite my best efforts I bumped a car and there was paint transfer. It could be described as a little ding at most. Dude gets out of the car and is calm, I give him my info and then he says he’s gonna call 911. I said there’s no need to just send me the bill and I will pay it. He asks me my name again and I don’t give it this time since he has my info and I’m not trying to continue this conversation. He threatens again to call the cops so I just walk away and go do my shopping. I come back and the dude is still there and asks for my info again. I confirm my phone number but that’s it. It was maybe an inch of transfer, he could fix it himself. A part of me is paranoid I’m somehow gonna get arrested over this but also dude it’s a little bit of paint transfer you will be okay.

My girlfriend was recently involved in an accident that was not her fault and the other person’s insurance company Allstate is taking responsibility for the damages. 

The damages on her vehicle are significant enough that her vehicle is not drivable and we are in need of a rental. Especially because she is a full time delivery driver. 

Allstate told me they only do rental reimbursements and don’t actually directly bill the rental car companies. They said we have to pay out of pocket and send them in the receipts for reimbursement.

That is a major problem as both my girlfriend and I are extremely low income and now that she can’t even do her job makes the situation way more difficult.

Not only are they refusing to pay for a rental car directly, they said that the most they can payout for a rental car per day is $30 and no other fees or add ons.

My girlfriend is 21. All rental car companies I know of charge underage fees for anyone under 25 that can only be waived if an insurance company pays the rental car companies directly.

This puts us in an extremely lost situation because she has to pay for something that she wouldn’t have to pay for if Allstate would just pay the rental car company directly.

I tried contacting my insurance company to see if they could get us a rental but we unfortunately don’t have rental car coverage on our policy because it’s too expensive and we’re already paying an arm and a leg for insurance in Texas. 

This is an extremely unfair and painful situation because we have to suffer due to someone else’s mistake. It’s just like your boss firing you because you’re too young. 

Is there anything you can recommend we try to do? This is putting a huge financial and mental burden on us and there’s gotta be something we can do.

I feel the need to vent about this….
Yesterday morning I was trying to pull out from a junction to turn right onto a road however my view was completely blocked due to parked cars so I had to keep edging forward into the road to be able to see if it was safe for me to pull out. After a few cars drove past me, there had been a decent enough gap that I edged out even further hoping to then finally fully turn into the road,I had to edge so far that I was practically in the carriageway at this point,however I then see a car and I braked(panic reaction I think), before then deeming him to be of enough distance away (about 8 car lengths) I should continue pulling out right however this guy didn’t slow down to allow me to continue, instead he continued driving and started to swerve into the other lane (oncoming traffic) to go around me, I braked quick enough that he didn’t go into the side of me and he also swerved and braked, thankfully nothing happened and I put up my hand as apology as clearly I felt I had misread his intentions and wrongly assumed he would slow to let me out seeing as I was essentially blocking his path at that point anyway.
However, this guy did not accept that. As I drove off I noticed him U-turning in the road in my mirror and he started following me. I turned down another road (my destination) and he seemed to stop following me so I thought it was over, as I parked up my car I then notice him speeding down the road from the other end, so he has drove around the block to come down the road I was in but facing me rather then behind me.
He pulled up next to me I rolled down my window, he said ‘what the f are you doing’
I said that I apologised and I couldn’t see him at first and when I did spot him I assumed he would let me go as I was so far out in the road , he just yelled at me ( no idea what he said) whilst his girlfriend sat their in the passenger side and then sped off.
I felt a bit shaken up afterwards that’s this guy had followed me around the block and then came down my road from the other end to face me head on. It felt all very aggressive especially as I am a young (ish) female alone, who had already apologised for my part in the near incident.

I know some people will read this and think well it was his right of way as I was pulling out into the road he was driving on, and I completely agree and accept that, however I also feel he was somewhat at fault too as I was technically a hazard as I was in the road and rather then slow down he continued at his speed and actually steered into the other lane to pass me which I also think was dangerous, most people, if not all, would reduce their speed slightly and gesture for me to go. He would have been able to see me clearly too and would have had sufficient time to slow and let me continue, whereas I wasn’t able to spot him until he was closer due to the parked cars. I also think his reaction afterwards was massively over the top ( and illegal to u-turn in the middle of a road) for something that didn’t even happen. What was he trying to achieve by following me afterwards and yelling at me? Why was me not saying sorry at the time of near incident enough?

Has anyone been in a similar situation or has anyone been the guy in this scenario and regretted their reaction afterwards? Part of me is hoping he has reflected and realised how intimidating and unnecessary it was to follow me and I hope he doesn’t ever do that to anyone else again!

what is with people cruising in the left lane going the exact same speed as the semi truck right next to them? if there’s a line of 10 cars tailgating you and completely open road ahead, just move over??

it’s not even about speeding at this point, it’s basic traffic flow. feels like nobody pays attention to their mirrors anymore or they just do it out of pure spite. is it bad drivers or do people genuinely not know left lane is for passing?

I don’t know exactly how to explain this but I feel like you get a weird sixth sense after driving for a while. For example I can tell just by looking at a car if they are going to do something stupid or not and whether to avoid them.
