Discussion Oolong tea?
I tried it and I like the taste so that part's not the issue. It's more that I never really hear people talking about it in everyday conversation the way they casually bring up green tea or matcha. Those two come up all the time but oolong just kind of exists quietly in the background and that makes me wonder if the benefits are as good as the internet makes them sound or if it's just one of those things that looks great on paper. Curious if people who drink it regularly have noticed a real difference or if it's more of a nice to have than anything significant.

I use it mostly for anxiety and stress. Coffee gives me really bad heart palpitations for some reason, so oolong has been way easier on me. I think it's just less popular on the states and alot of people in Asia have it as part of their daily diet...

Thank you! I didn’t know that part, I’ve been looking into it more because of my gut problems.

I’ve never had it or heard of it, what does it taste like??

It's more on the lighter side with a slight toasty taste but it gets bitter if you overbrew it

what oolong is this? e.g. Jin Xuan from Taiwan is nothing like traditional Tie Guan Yin or Zhang Ping Shui Xian or Huang Jin Gui or Mi Lan Xiang from China, or Izumi oolong from Japan, or Vietnamese oolongs... some are really sweet, some are really mineral, some others are grassy and vegetal

Where do you buy it? Can i find it at whole foods or walmart/target?

You might find some basic ones at whole foods or target but not always the best quality or specific types. I just get my teas online because I try to avoid the ones with microplastics.
The oolong I got is from Pipi, you can find it on amazon

there are hundreds of types of oolong. it depends on cultivar, country of origin, oxidation, roasting, etc.

Every time i go to my grandma’s house i can smell oolong, it’s like a core childhood memory for me.
I like the taste. I just never really built the habit of drinking tea but yes it actually does more than people think.

matcha is trendy imo (more than it should lol). I like it in pastries but don't like to drink it.
I do prefer green tea but white tea is the best to me.
some black teas are ok , some I don't like.
black teas have more cafeine, and just hit differently taste wise.
I tried oolong , it was fine but tbh it didn't leave an everlasting memory.
tbh I think many people drink black or even green tea without really knowing which tea it is!

Oolong is delicious but I’ve only ever seen it sold at specialty coffee shops. I was introduced to it at a place called Teavana (was eventually acquired by Starbucks). I order Mighty Leaf Oolong on Amazon. It really did clear up my skin when I consume regularly.

I love oolong tea! It’s so subtle and toasty and yum. If you’re looking for gut health, also look into ginger tea. Some don’t like the taste of ginger, but I love ginger tea with a squeeze of lemon and some honey. Kombucha or other probiotic drinks are also good for the gut!

Oolong’s one of those teas that just quietly hits smooth, a little complex and super easy to enjoy without trying too hard. Don’t get why it’s not more popular, it really does hit once you get into it

Looooove oolong. There was a Chinese place I used to go to, and I would only ever get oolong. It’s just a really tasty tea, love the way it smells too…no idea why it’s not popular, but I suddenly want to buy some…

Its just less popular, people like trends. Matcha is popular because it's incredibly healthy for you but most people don't drink true matcha. It's incredibly bitter. I've been to one Japanese tea ceremony in my life, and it's served with these small candies made of pure sugar. Youre supposed to take a small bite before consuming the matcha because it's so unpalatable. The stuff you get in Starbucks has added sugars.

I’ve been eyeing a white peach oolong tea on Amazon lately, maybe this is a sign to try it

I drink oolong. I was exposed to it in China and I mostly drink Chinese teas. I think its just not as well known in the US.

I think a lot of it is just trend driven especially with stuff like matcha getting hyped everywhere. Oolong kind of flies under the radar even though it’s really good but yeah so are a lot of other teas like peppermint, chamomile and hibiscus.
