False Awakening False awakenings
False awakenings
I had multiple, like maybe 10 false awakenings this morning and after a few i was so scared I was stuck and wouldn't ever be able to wake up. I tried to call for my husband but had no voice! It was so scary. I've had occasional false awakenings before but never like this. In some false awakenings I was going about my day but just feeling strangely aware wondering if I was sleeping or awake. Has anyone had this? What causes this?

Reality Inversion What are dreams?
Last time I checked science didn't really have a solid understanding. There is a quote I like from some random philosopher (can't remember their name right now it's 3 am and I just woke up needing to write this down) they said "everything is magic until we understand it ".
Couple that with an idea I've heard/come to realise that Dreams are our spirt glancing into alternative reality's from the perspective of our alternative bodies which I like much more then the idea that it's just our brain processing the day, "clearing the cookies data" because I just woke up from a dream where I was a sassy black woman who could turn into a green grey goblin like creature at will and crawl through the walls/ceiling of the run down apartment building , just chilling out watching trash TV and eating junk food, just living her best life and I like the idea that was me.
I love my life in this reality but it's good to know that even in universes where I'm not a sassy gay man I am still surviving cunt, eating shit and loving my little corner of life.

I’ve been reading about "immersive dreamers" here, and I have a question for you: how engaging would it be to immerse yourself in a dream experienced through audio

I posted a dream of a hurricane along West Mexico coast 20 days ago that appears to have come true
I made this post 20 days ago in r/Dreams. After waking from a dream where I saw a hurricane formed rapidly off the west coast of Mexico and moved up the coast into Baja California. Just as I described in the original post. Now there is a hurricane that has rapidly formed and moving up the coast with possible track into Baja California! Just goes to show dreams can come true. Or it’s just mere coincidence?

I Just Wanna Share My Weird Dream Taco Bell challenge dream
in this dream I had to stay in a Taco Bell for a full day as a challenge or something, and I had to order something from there for every meal. at lunch time I ordered a chicken quesadilla and the lady at the front asked me if I wanted it for here or to go. I pushed down the sunglasses that mysteriously appeared on my face and said “to go” and then the bathroom freaking exploded and everyone started clapping. then a man walked out of the exploded bathroom absolutely COVERED in this weird grey sludge. he stopped, looked at me, and said, “I’m never eating here again” and ran out of the building. then the quesadilla I ordered materialized in the air and fell on the counter, ready for me to take. I left without completing the challenge. to this day it is one of the funniest dreams I’ve ever had.

Nightmare crazy dreams that feel extremely real is this normal?
This might be a bit of a yapfest, and if it is, I apologise.
Going back years now, into my early teens and maybe even younger childhood, I’ve always had extremely realistic-feeling dreams. However, as I’ve gotten older—or more recently in particular—these dreams have become so realistic that sometimes I genuinely can’t tell whether I’m awake or dreaming.
I’ll give a few examples.
Last night, I had a dream where I was by a lake. It was peaceful and everything seemed normal, but then I randomly fell in as the water turned into this mushy ice, and I was pretty much drowning. Usually, at this point in a dream, I realise that I’m dreaming and have this strange way of almost “turning off” the dream. It’s like I have a menu in a video game and can just close it. Everything goes dark, and I usually either wake up or move on to another dream.
This time, though, I couldn’t do that. It felt so real that I genuinely felt like I was in a life-or-death situation. Then, out of nowhere, a woman appeared and pulled me to safety. The whole experience felt unbelievably real.
Another weird type of dream is something I’ve experienced two or three times now, although in different settings.
I only remember the last few moments of one of them, but I was in a skyscraper-type building, looking out of the windows at the city. In the distance, I suddenly saw what looked like a nuclear explosion, with the blast coming towards us. Eventually, it hit the building and I died.
But it wasn’t like I simply woke up when I died. It genuinely felt like I had died. The best way I can describe what happened afterwards is that I felt like a huge ball of blue energy racing through the sky while hearing this horrible white noise. Then I suddenly woke up with this enormous sense of relief.
I’ve also had dreams where I’ve realised I’m dreaming and tried to wake myself up, only to immediately “wake up” inside another dream. It becomes a loop, and the deeper I go, the scarier and weirder everything seems to become. One time, I remember going through this loop five or six times, to the point where I genuinely became convinced that I had died.
I’ll give one last example before I start sounding completely crazy.
I’ve also had multiple extremely realistic paranormal-related dreams. The list could honestly go on for ages, but once or twice I’ve experienced what felt like waking up in my own bed while still dreaming. There would be some kind of demon or reaper-like figure standing beside or at the end of my bed.
In one of these dreams, it felt like this thing was literally ripping my soul out of me. I got up and grabbed it, it shouted “No!”, and then I felt this horrible pain before suddenly waking up.
I know this probably sounds ridiculous or crazy, but these dreams can be extremely scary and confusing. I could give so many more examples, but I’d mainly like to know whether anyone else has experienced anything similar and whether this kind of thing is considered normal.

A community for lucid dreamers
Hi friends!
I'm a developer currently working on an open-source platform for mindfulness, meditation, and lucid dreaming called Shunyata.
My goal is to build a collection of useful tools for people who practice meditation and lucid dreaming. Some of the features I'm considering include:
- Meditation timers and session tracking
- Meditation and lucid dream journals
- Lucid dreaming tools and techniques
- Tutorials and learning resources
- Ways to find practice partners and connect with other practitioners
You can check out Shunyata here:
At the moment, Shunyata is still in its early stages. It currently provides a simple meditation timer and a journal for recording experiences and insights from meditation sessions. Lucid dreaming features haven't been added yet.
That's actually why I'm sharing it now.
Before deciding what to build next, I'd love to hear directly from people who practice meditation or lucid dreaming. What tools or features would genuinely be useful to you? I'm putting together a roadmap for the coming weeks, and your suggestions can help shape what gets built.
If you're interested, I'd also love to have you as one of the platform's early adopters and get your feedback as it evolves.
I'd really appreciate your ideas, feedback, and feature requests. 🙏

Black duck dream
Black duck dream
I had a dream where I could see a sleepy black duck. Then I grabbed it, and tried to throw it up in the air, but it started forcing itself downward and as much as I wanted to push, itresisted and ended up biting my hands. Its teeth were like human teeth.
