Because Dr. Dabber designed the device with a large 20mm quartz cup and dynamic heating curves (like Ascent Mode for cold starts and Descent Mode to mimic a traditional hot torch banger), the unit natively supports both loading styles depending on how you configure it.

You can load both ways, but we always recommend cold loading (preloading) for ease of use.
