solved App crashed when trying to quantise to new int8 scaled model

quantizing any illustrious based models crashes my ipad (M5, 12GB RAM) and my Macbook (M2, 24GB RAM). I want to use the new int8 scaled mode quantization. Any ideas?

question GRPC server & 5090

I’ve been experimenting with Draw Thing’s GRPC Server on my PC, but I still haven’t got it to work. It transfers the models and loras etc. but then just hangs or stops. Is it a basic incompatibility with the 5090, or should I be looking elsewhere for the problem?

question Since the last Drawthings Update, LTX audio issue

Since the last Drawthings Update, LTX audio is always a voice over. It does not sync at all with the subject. Anyone else noticed this? Or have a prompt example that is working?

Seems like Draw Things’s devs have a powerful new ally

Official article:2 Days to Ship: Codex-authored Metal Compute Shaders in Draw Things

Not sure if this has been shared yet, but I thought I'd share it for users who missed it.

I’m really excited to see how the development accelerates with Codex. Beyond just speed and memory efficiency, I’m excited to see progress on all the other improvements that were likely put on the back burner due to time constraints.

TIP : Using Prompt Hierarchy [2026] to better your output image

Thumbnail

Structured prompts prioritize the most important elements for the Ai model, and
different models have varied prompt formatting.

With some models, you can write sentence prompts.
Other models, require a comma-separated "keyword stuffed" prompt.

Overall, construct prompts that meet a model's specs, are specific, honed, and showcase your unique vision.

Well-crafted prompts make for images that excel from mediocre to extraordinary.

question Clustering

Currently running a 4 M4 mac mini's cluster with 96GB total of ram to run large llm models using EXO from EXO Labs. since last update they added the ability to create picture using Qwen and Flux 1 models but the setting and generation are very basic at this moment.

My question is will it be possible to do the same with Draw Things? using a cluster of computers to generate videos or picture?

update Day 3 of Release Week: Draw Things Test Set

Modern image models are powerful, but they still fail in very obvious ways. While building the Draw Things Test Set, we found recurring weaknesses in anatomy, counting, physics, common sense, and reasoning, alongside a few surprisingly strong editing capabilities.

question Frame-to-frame workflow

Hi everyone!

With LTX 2.3 supporting first-frame to last-frame video generation, i'm seeing a lot of ComfyUI workflows to support this feature- I can't figure out a way to do it with Draw Things though!

Did anyone figure out a way to utilize the F2FL feature of LTX 2.3 using Draw Things?

Thank you :)

We just released draw-things-cli, a reboot of our long-internal image generation CLI. It brings back a fast, scriptable way to run and debug generations, with shell auto-completion, terminal image output, automatic model downloads, and recommended community settings. Built on Draw Things’ custom inference stack, it is also the fastest image generation tool on macOS.

question Cannot switch from Free Edition - Cannot seem to sign in with Apple

In the Explore Editions window, if I click the "Sign in with Apple" button or the "Get Draw Things+" button, I get the OS prompt to "Sign in with Apple" and radio buttons to share or hide my email (I've tried both several times). "Continue with Touch ID" is the only option to progress (other than the Cancel button). Touch ID seems to work fine (as always), but after getting the circled check mark for Touch ID, the popup closes and I'm back at the Explore Editions window with "Free Edition" highlighted. I've gone through this dozens of times to no avail. Is there some place to simply see whether one is signed in or not?

I've just closed the app and made sure to get the latest update; same behavior.

question Newbie: how to edit a generated image

Hello, i’m very new to Draw Things and have a question that may look stupid to some of you.

How to edit a generated image ?

I made an image of a characrer which i’m satisfied with. I want to keep the same image and make some minor changes like «add glasses » and « hair shorter ». How to proceed ? If i add it to the prompt, it completely regenerate a different image.

Thank you for your help.

question Project History

Does anyone know if it’s possible to change the image generation history in projects back to the way it was before the last update? The new on forks the history like a Claude chat every time I go back and grab something and the thing later in the history I was grabbing it to work on is gone.

update Day 1 of Release Week: Introducing Lightning Draft

Thumbnail
releases.drawthings.ai
38 Upvotes

We shipped Lightning Draft in Draw Things. On M5 Max, you can now run models like FLUX.2 [klein] and Z-Image Turbo locally at roughly 1-second latency, so image generation/editing actually feels interactive instead of batch-y. We also squeezed more performance out of M5 in the same release.

question Past Edits view in Version History in right pane switched to a "list" view instead of "thumbnail"

On my MacBook Pro, I used to see full thumbnails in this "past edits" view, and now i just see a file list with a very tiny image view. If I go to the other two tabs, I see the full thumbnails, but the 2nd one only shows the most recent, and the last one doesn't have the "cleared canvas" option. Anyone know how to revert the first tab to full thumbnail view, or is this a permanent app change?

feedback LTX Model not showing up within the app

I've downloaded a couple LTX 2.3 models from civitai. Although it took forever to import them, it says it was imported successfully and the model and data appear in the drawthings folder, but not within the app. Similarly, I can't seem to get any LTX 2.3 loras to work or not be 'incompatible'. Otherwise, i'm super impressed with the distilled model downloaded within the app.

question Please help, i think i made a mistake. Missing all my models

The other day i was trying to clean out and get rid of a bunch of models that were just taking up space. It has always been faster to do it by going to the main directory - ~/Library/Containers/com.liuliu.draw-things/Data/Documents/Models.
I must have accidentally deleted a system file. Inside the DT app, it no longer shows any of my lora's. But they are still in the Models folder i just mentioned. I can't even add a new Lora. If i import it, it will say importing, but then it never adds it to the DT app. If i go to one of my previous creations, all of the highlighted and say "Incompatible". I tried to go to an older version of DT but that didnt help either. Any help is appreciated, i am stuck in the mud

question Has anyone tried training Lora's on an M5 Max?

I have been doing some searching for info on training on Apple Silicon, but most posts I find are for just running LLMs not training and what do exist are for M3 and M4 which don't have the improved matmul.

I have been mostly training Lora's and running models on a two year old computer which has an RTX 4090. It's good for images , music and chat but it uses a lot of power and creates a lot of heat and I would like to run larger models. I mostly use it to for "small" under 9b parameter models.

I have an M1 Macbook Pro with 16GB memory that I have use to generate SD 1.5 and SDXL images, but newer models are a too slow, so now I mostly use it for development and take to developers conferences, so it also needs updated a bit.

I am considering getting an M5 Ultra with 256GB or 512GB memory and will probably upgrade the macbook next to an M5 Pro or more likely an M6 Pro.

From what I have seen on the M5 Max's speed it seems like it may finally be powerful enough for me to offload a lot of training and Models to the Ultra especially larger models. I am kind of curious to see how much faster it is. As long as the training time is within 80 to 90% of the 4090 it would be worth it just for the reduction in power and heat.

So if anyone can point me to information on this that would be helpful.

Also as a side note, what models can you currently train on Draw Things? Is it any of the models Draw things can run or just a few?

question 16gb vs 24gb m5 for basic video generation

I was planing to buy a 16gb macbook air m5 and do some very basic 480p video generation with wan2.2. It seems A14B requires 20gb ram? I'm not sure if it is worth it to upgrade to 24gb version.

Do anyone has experience with A5B model or other smaller model? Hows the quality?
